WELCOME Jesus got word that His close friend Lazarus was sick, dying. Scripture says plainly He loved Martha, Mary, and Lazarus. Then it says, when He heard that Lazarus was sick, He stayed two more days where He was. Not because He didn’t care. Because He did. The delay wasn’t the absence of love. It was love working on a different timeline than the one everyone else wanted. I want to sit with that delay today, because a lot of you are living inside your own version of it. THIS IS FOR YOU IF...You’ve asked God for help and He hasn’t moved yet, and the delay feels like proof He doesn’t care as much as you thought, or as much as you need Him to right now. Stay with me. The two days Jesus waited weren’t neglect. They were the setup for something bigger than anyone standing outside that tomb could have imagined. BOTTOM LINE UP FRONTA delayed answer is not a denied prayer. Sometimes love waits on purpose, for a resurrection bigger than the healing you originally asked for. OUR SPRINGBOARD FOR TODAY’S DISCUSSION IS:“Now Jesus loved Martha, and her sister, and Lazarus. MAIN MENTORING Notice how deliberately Scripture connects those two facts. He loved them, and He stayed two more days. Not He loved them, but stayed anyway despite the love. The text puts the love and the delay right next to each other on purpose, refusing to let us separate them the way we instinctively want to. By the time Jesus arrived, Lazarus had been dead four days. Martha told Him plainly, if You had been here, my brother would not have died. She wasn’t wrong about what a quicker arrival would have prevented. She just didn’t yet know what the delay had made possible. Jesus wasn’t there to prevent a death. He was there to reverse one, and that miracle required the exact delay Martha was grieving. Here’s what I want you to take from this today. When God delays an answer to your prayer, it is not automatically evidence He loves you less or cares less about your timeline. Sometimes, and you won’t know which times until later, the delay is the setup for something your original request never would have produced. Martha asked for healing. She got resurrection instead, but only because Jesus waited. Your delay might not be denial. It might be the exact setup for something bigger than what you originally asked for. DAILY ACTION Name a prayer God hasn’t answered yet. Instead of assuming the delay means no, ask Him today to show you what He might be setting up that you can’t see from where you’re standing. THE DAILY CHARGE Stop treating delay as denial. Love and delay stood in the same sentence at that tomb, and four days later, love won. Trust that His timing, even when it costs you tears in the waiting, is building toward something you asked for and something even bigger than you asked for. LET’S PRAY Father, this delay has felt like You don’t care, and I know now that isn’t true. Help me trust Your timing the way Martha eventually did. Show me what You might be setting up in this waiting that I can’t see yet. I believe You love me even in the silence. In Jesus’ name, amen.
