    Rachel Flowers

    EPISODE 151: Rachel Flowers is recognized worldwide as a multi-instrumentalist and composer whose music encompasses multiple genres. She first gained recognition for her talent as a young child and has been admired and mentored by those at the top of their field: Greg Lake, Keith Emerson, Dweezil Zappa, Conductor Terje Mikkelson, and a series of jazz greats, most notably Herbie Hancock. As a teenager she won numerous awards as a pianist and flutist, and has matured to perform and record on the global stage. The award winning documentary “Hearing Is Believing” was produced about her unusual life and talents. Rachel continues to defy expectations by refusing to be pigeonholed by genre or by instrument. Her classical piano training started when she was only 4 years old. At 9 she discovered jazz and was immediately transfixed by the music of John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock, and Ella Fitzgerald. Always an avid listener of rock and pop radio, around that same time her attention was grabbed by the keyboard playing of Keith Emerson of the band Emerson Lake and Palmer.     Martina Radwan

    EPISODE 150: Martina Radwan, a German-Syrian, is an award winning director and cinematographer. After moving to New York City in the mid 90’s, she DP’ed several fiction films before she developed a deep interest in documentaries. Her love for verité and observational story telling makes her one of the most sought after cinematographers. Understanding the power of images and filmmaking, Martina goes beyond the surface and often shines a light on those who are overlooked. Continuing to push her own boundaries she started to direct. After two award winning shorts, Martina directed TOMORROW, TOMORROW, TOMORROW , which premiered on DOC NYC in 2023. In 2026, she directed ONE LAST ADVENTURE: THE MAKING OF STRANGER THINGS 5, an intimate, on the ground look at Matt & Ross Duffer final season of their long lasting hit show on Netflix. For her DP work, she received an Emmy for Outstanding Cinematography for a Nonfiction Program for her DP work on GIRLS STATE in 2024. Her recent work includes THE ONLY GIRL IN THE ORCHESTRA, the 2025 Academy Award Winner for Short Documentary, FOLLOWING HARRY, ONE PERSON, ONE VOTE?, FOOD AND COUNTRY, THE FIRE THAT TOOK HER, the 2023 Emmy Winner for Outstanding Crime and Justice Documentary, INVENTING TOMORROW, winner of the 2020 Peabody Award, and THE FINAL YEAR. SAVING FACE, the 2012 Academy Award Winner for Short Documentary and Emmy winner, earned her an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Cinematography in 2013. Her narrative DP work ranges from dramas like Rubaiyat Hussein’s acclaimed UNDER CONSTRUCTION, the first female directed feature in Bangladesh, to Gideon Raff's thriller THE KILLING FLOOR and horror film TRAIN, as well as Maria Govern’s RAIN, the first female directed Bahamian feature. Furthermore, Martina has collaborated with numerous international artists, like ANOHNI for whom she shot the video background for her 2016 HOPELESS TOUR, as well as conceptual artists like Andrea Geyer, Josiah McElheny and Wu Tsang.     Jane Getter

    EPISODE 149: NYC-based Jane Getter is a “triple-threat” (Geoff Wilbur)—guitarist, singer, ASCAP award-winning and NYSCA commissioned composer. Getter’s 2026 7D Media release, Transmogrify, coalesces a lifetime of musical exploration into intricate arrangements, powerful playing, and killer solos. Getter has been shredding boundaries since picking up a guitar at age eight and recently won the number 8 slot for best guitarist in Prog Magazine’s 2021 readers poll. She cites musical influences Mahavishnu Orchestra, King Crimson, Porcupine Tree and guitar influences Jeff Beck, Allan Holdsworth, and Wes Montgomery. On her first tour, with legendary jazz/blues organist Brother Jack McDuff, Getter’s musical language expanded to embrace the groove-oriented music that she saw thrilling audiences. Getter has also toured and played with Lenny White, Ursala Dudziak, Jaimoe (of the Allman Brothers), Michal Urbaniak, Kenny Garrett, The Roots the jam, Mike Clark (Headhunters), the Saturday Night Live Band and more.     Johnny Manchild

    EPISODE 147: Johnny Manchild And The Poor Bastards’ new album, SIDE EFFECTS, is due out on July 24th and is produced, engineered, mixed, and arranged by Johnny Manchild himself. The new release expands their sound from its solid base of alt-rock with a power pop punk influence and piano to include heavier guitars, a full horn section, and hints of industrial noise, along with rapid-fire vocals.  In support of SIDE EFFECTS, Johnny Manchild And The Poor Bastards will kick off an extensive United States tour in their hometown of Oklahoma City, OK on album release date, next Friday, July 24th. Since 2016, Johnny Manchild has led an ever-evolving musical lineup, affectionately dubbed The Poor Bastards. The collective has produced five albums, a multitude of singles and videos and has participated in numerous tours. Manchild’s genesis took place in Oklahoma City, where at the ripe age of 8, he began to hone his musical abilities in a cover band before joining his first original band at 10 years old. At 12, he began building a rudimentary home studio and teaching himself all the instruments needed to record his early attempts at songs. He continued cutting his teeth by performing in punk bands and recording bands in the OKC area, until graduating high school and joining the US Army Band. Shortly after the completion of his basic training, he enrolled in the jazz performance program at the University of Central Oklahoma, refining his skills until his efforts resulted in his debut album, VALENCIA, in 2017. From his first release, Johnny Manchild has attracted a devout following who will literally follow him anywhere. With each offering the numbers have grown, and the word of Manchild has spread.     Charlie Feldman

    EPISODE 144: Charlie Feldman joined BMI’s New York creative team in October of 1988 after having overseen EMI Music Publishing’s Nashville office as Vice President and General Manager. He spent fourteen years in Nashville with EMI and thirty one years in New York with BMI, retiring at the end of 2019. As Vice President of BMI’s New York creative department Feldman and his team signed Taylor Swift, Norah Jones, Gavin DeGraw, Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Chris Brown, R Kelly and John Legend, to name a few. Feldman has worked closely with such songwriters as Chip Taylor, Sandy Linzer, Carole King, Gregg Allman, Nile Rodgers, Tony Joe White, Holland/Dozier/Holland, Hall & Oates, Rihanna, Full Force and Cage the Elephant. He is a past Trustee of The Recording Academy and a two-time New York Chapter past president. He also serves as a Vice Chairman of the Entertainment Media division of UJA-Federation and is a board member of the T.J. Martell Foundation and The Songwriters Hall of Fame. He is a member of the Country Music Association, AIMP and The Academy of Country Music. Feldman received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Alabama.
