After traveling on business for 30 years, what was I going to do after I sold my company in 2013? Answer: Travel more, but to the off-the-beaten-track and obscure places on planet Earth. After visiting almost 100 countries and living in 5 countries, I officially became a Travel Addict. Today, I am contracted by various Cruise Lines to perform enrichment and educational lectures to passengers on various journeys around the World. A podcast or two will be published from time to time when I am back in my office and of course it will be about travel. Oh, almost forgot. I write travel books - factual and quirky.     Geologist Dr. Tamie Jovanelly explains why volcano destinations are reshaping adventure travel

    Dr. Tamie J. Jovanelly (aka Dr. Jo) is a Professor of Geology and a Research Affiliate at Berry College, Georgia. She received her PhD from Kent State University, her MS from the University of Nebraska, and her BS from the University of Michigan.  Over two decades, her research has been broad-scoping and impressive.  She is the sole author of the award-winning and best-selling monograph Iceland: Tectonics, Volcanics, and Glacial Features (Wiley, 2020).  In continuation of her investigations in climate change, she received a Research Scientist position on a cruise to the International Territories of Svalbard in 2022.  Dr. Jo’s forthcoming book Volcanoes: What Everyone Needs to Know (Oxford University Press, July 2026), draws on more than 20 years of global research to provide an accessible exploration of how volcanoes shape our landscapes, climate, cultures, and travel experiences around the globe.     Briana Gervat’s solo 500-mile walk through history along The Western Front

    Briana Gervat is a historian, photographer, and an author who recently published her memoir, There Will Come Soft Rains: A Journey Along the Western Front. She is the first woman to walk the "Western Front Way" solo. In 2022, just as the world began to open after the isolation of a global pandemic, Briana Gervat set out to walk the length of the Western Front. Beginning at the border that France shares with Switzerland she went into the wild in search of hope and in search of peace. For 500 miles, she climbed over the mountains of the Vosges, through the battle-scarred landscapes of Verdun, the Marne, and the Somme, all the way to the North Sea in Belgium.
