Have this Mind Among You - Matthew 21:28-32

The Mind of Christ: Unity Rooted in Humility (Philippians 2) In a sermon on Philippians 2, the preacher urges the church toward unity of mind and heart rooted in humility, warning that even “respectable sins” like selfish ambition, conceit, and pride require repentance. True unity is not cheap agreement or personal preference but shared submission to God’s Word, where the mind of Christ is found. Paul’s exhortation—count others more significant and look to others’ interests—is grounded not merely in Christ as an example but first as a gift received by faith, since this new mind is “yours in Christ Jesus” through the Spirit, Word, and sacrament. The sermon highlights Christ’s descent in the incarnation and obedience to death for sinners, God’s exaltation of Jesus as Lord over all, and concludes with the call to “work out” salvation, trusting that God works in believers to will and to work for His good pleasure. 00:00 Grace and Peace Opening 00:16 Why This Greeting 00:38 Theme of the Mind 01:14 Philippians Warm Letter 01:44 Respectable Sins Warning 02:55 Big Idea Unity Humility 03:18 Called to One Mind 04:57 Unity Under Scripture 07:05 Humility in Community 07:57 Bonhoeffer Life Together 09:59 Mind Yours in Christ 12:01 Christ Descent Incarnation 15:21 Lowest Place Cross 16:43 Sin and Need for Cross 19:07 Exalted Christ Our Hope 20:23 Future Kingdom Assurance 21:42 Work Out Salvation 22:51 Final Amen
