The Knackered Golfist Podcast

This golf enthusiast has been addicted to golf since I was 8 years old, that's 40 years to you and me.  Always trying to get the best deal on forged golf irons before they are all gone.  Classic forged irons are really what get me excited about hitting golf balls the way they were intended to be hit.  That goes for classic putters and classic persimmon woods too.  Golf is far too expensive and it doesn't have to be.  Golf can be participated in for far less money than what you think.  Golf equipment, golf balls at the range, golf outings at the local muni, outings at upper echelon golf courses, and maybe attending the infrequent PGA Tour tournament.  I started the Forged Golf Club Appreciation page on Facebook. https://www.facebook.com/groups/424396784801087/I also make videos The Knackered Golfist on YouTube.https://www.youtube.com/c/theknackeredgolfistAnd I am on Instagram. https://www.instagram.com/theknackeredgolfist/?hl=enThank you for listening to The Knackered Golfist Podcast!!

TKG Ep 126 Meeting A Sacramento Golf Institution.

Send Me A Text Message I would love to know where you are listening to me from!! Hello again Fellow Golfists,  I wanted to share that I had a great outing to the driving range at Sacramento National on 3.22.25.  I also wanted to share that I had a great time practicing with my new Scottie Scheffler Inspired / Style 5 iron with the correctly molded grip to enhance the attention that needs to be paid to having proper golf fundamentals.  I used a Golden Ram Tour Grind Axial 5 iron.     I also had a good session with my Honma CL 708 Forged blades that I had recently reshafted with a set of Precision FM 6.5 shafts that were originally in my Golden Ram Tour Grinds.  And once I made it to the practice green I had a good session with my Wilson 8802 and my PING B61 putter.   I also had the chance to meet someone who is considered a golf institution in the greater Sacramento area.  His name is Clyde Daniels.  Mr. Daniels was able to briefly share with me a few stories of what it was like to visit The Masters, organize a junior golf clinic with Charlie Sifford, and see Calvin Peete in his prime at the 1982 US Open at Pebble Beach.  Not to mention, he was able to qualify and play in the Transamerica at Silverado Golf Resort in Napa California, which was a stop on the PGA Champions Tour circuit.  Thank you for listening to The Knackered Golfist Podcast.       Support the show #theknackeredgolfistpodcast @theknackeredgolfist Check out The Knackered Golfist on YouTube https://www.youtube.com/@TheKnackeredGolfist This episode brought to you by the Forged Golf Club Appreciation page on Facebook Oughton's Golf Repair https://oughtonsgolf.com/ #myscorecard Thank a Veteran Today!! https://www.pgareach.org/services/military The Observant Ear Radio Network GOD Bless You!!

TKG Ep 123 Players Championship Preview

Send Me A Text Message I would love to know where you are listening to me from!! Hello again fellow Golfists, Got to pontificate on my way to work on the Thursday morning before the 2025 Players Championship.  This year marks the 40th Anniversary of Calvin Peete winning the 1985 Players Championship.  It has been great to hear recent podcast episodes that really open the book on Calvin Peete's dominance on the PGA Tour in the 1970's and 1980's.   No Laying Up with Kevin Van Valkenburg and The Society of Golf History Enthusiast's Conor T Lewis interviewed Gordon Hobson after the book on Calvin Peete's life was published back in 2024.  The book is called "Calvin Peete: Golf's Forgotten Star" by Gordon Hobson.  I really want to hear it on audiobook and I hope to soon.  I also share an update on my work with my Honma forged blades that I still have not quite finished yet.  I also bought a grip to have a Scottie Scheffler club in my bag in order to get back to the fundamentals when practicing.   I also think that The Player's Championship should be a legitimate major championship but when should it be? Thanks so much for listening.   God Bless You and Have a great week!
