EP1: Cameron Crestani (Brisbane Roar)

Former Brisbane Roar defender Cameron Crestani joins Bon's Backyard to talk about his footballing journey from the small country town of Stanthorpe (QLD) to the A-League. Cameron is Stanthorpe's proudest export from the passionate footballing town. After spending 4 years in the Brisbane Roar youth system, Crestani made his debut for the senior team during the 2016/17 season, earning starts in the A-League and the Asian Champions League. He shares his journey from playing football in the backyard with his four football-mad brothers, and sacrificing his education to travel to Brisbane four days a week to realise his professional sporting dream. Camo candidly shares a whole raft of interesting yarns from his career including: a serious heart condition nearly forced him out of the game, when he nearly killed the two of us in a car accident and how close he was to pursuing a career in the AFL. You'll also get to hear exactly what coach John Aloisi thought of him and the unspoken truth of how Brisbane Roar treated their players on youth contracts. This is Camo's story.
