TDP Episode 14 - Volunteer Fire Fighter Dies After Inhaling Super-heated Gases at a Residential Structure Fire - New York

Differences in response modalities, tactics and age of members can drastically affect the fire ground.  I think that this discussion examines the need for cross agency training as well as training that makes confident but conscientious young firefighters.  Many jobs are getting younger and it is imperative that we impart good working skills and discipline to younger members.  I hope this episode is a help.   The Dry Plug on Facebook, or dryplug911@gmail.com for anything.   Thanks again,  mike

TDP EPISODE:13 Report # F2015-08 Career Fire Captain Drowns After Stepping Into Flooded Storm Drain During Floodwater Rescue – Oklahoma

Spring is here, it might be time for a swift water refresher.  Good talk on the difficulties at high water/swift water events. Please contact dryplug911@gmail.com or the dry plug on Facebook with any questions or concerns.  Be safe out there in the world.

TDP Episode 12: F2011-18 A Career Captain Dies and 9 Fire Fighters injured in a Multistory Medical Building Fire - North Carolina

Fire alarm in a low rise with water issues and a heavy fire presentation for the time of day.  This is a communication break down early on that may have increased the likelihood of tragedy occurring.

TDP Episode 11 - Arson Fire Kills 3 FFs and Injures 4 FFs Following a Floor Collapse in a Row House - Delaware

If you never listen to another TDP Episode again, listen to this one first!  There are some truly incredible acts in this one.  It will make you proud to be amongst people in service.  Thanks.   Comments, questions, or gripes to The Dry Plug on Facebook or dryplug911@gmail.com Thanks

TDP Episode 10 - Career FF Dies During Fire-Fighting Operations at a Multi-Family Residential Structure Fire - Massachusetts

Maybe a strong argument for training for the smaller company response (i.e. companies of 3 or less).  Further discussion on a possibility for an interior "command presence" for those companies that require that the officer participate in the physical side of the task level.  Comments or concerns to The Dry Plug (Facebook) or dryplug911@gmail.com.  Thank you for listening.

TDP Episode 9: 2 Career Lts. KIlled and 2 Career FFs Injured Following a Flashover at an Assembly Hall Fire - Texas

Discussion over fire attack in commercial/assembly type structures and in this case Type V construction.  This pod examines some of the tactical differences separating bread and butter residential fire attack from that of commercial occupancies.   Editor's Note:  6 to 7 minutes in there is a discussion pertaining to staffing.  I cut out the first part of the staffing for the fire alarm by accident.   The key takeaway is that there was a typical alarm response (for this FD) but the Truck company was operating out of a squad type apparatus.  No aerial until the second alarm was achieved with mutual aid companies.   Thanks for Listening!  Contact at dryplug911@gmail.com, or on Facebook/Instagram at The Dry Plug.

TDP Episode 8 (Supplemental) - "Getting Back Time"

A supplement to TDP and topics covered.  This is a view of basic tasks both in transit and at scene that might "get time back" that has been lost in the processes inherent to dispatch and travel.  As always feedback to "The Dry Plug" on Facebook, or email at dryplug911@gmail.com

TDP Episode 7: Partial Roof Collapse in Commercial Structure Fire Claims the Lives of Two Career FFs - Tennessee

Some ideas on discipline of command and command presence.  Some thoughts on addressing interior conditions using the 5 fire fighter senses: Sight, Hearing, Touch, Intuition (experience) and Thermal Imaging.  Another Truck Question in this episode involving processes for cutting commercial roofs.  Thanks for Listening!  Thank You for any input.  The Dry Plug - Facebook,  dryplug911@gmail.com
