Jesus Has Authority When We Feel Stuck | John 5 & 6 Sermon

Ever feel stuck? Stuck in habits you can’t break… Stuck in situations you can’t change… Stuck doing the wrong things when you know what matters most… You’re not alone. In John 5 and John 6, we see two powerful moments where people are completely stuck—one for 38 years, and another facing an impossible situation with no solution. And in both cases, the same truth rises to the surface: Jesus has authority where we feel stuck. In This Message: ✔ Why we often stay stuck longer than we need to ✔ How our mindset can keep us trapped ✔ Why Jesus confronts excuses instead of comforting them ✔ How God uses what’s already in your hand ✔ The key to moving forward when life feels impossible Key Scriptures: John 5:1–15 John 6:1–14 Philippians 2:13 Big Idea: We get stuck in what we cannot fix… But Jesus has authority over what we cannot change. Whether you’ve been stuck for years… or you’re facing something overwhelming right now… Jesus is not stuck. How Do You Get Unstuck? 👉 Be honest about where you’re stuck 👉 Bring Jesus what’s in your hand 👉 Take the step He’s calling you to take Challenge: What excuses have you been holding onto? What step is Jesus asking you to take today? If this message encouraged you, like, subscribe, and share it with someone who feels stuck right now. When we are stuck… Jesus is not. Hosted on Acast. The 4 Chairs of Discipleship | Becoming a Disciplemaker | Like Jesus – The Model (Week 8)

Like Jesus – The Model | Week 8 In this final message of the Like Jesus – The Model series, Pastor DJ Grick teaches how Jesus trained His followers to become disciplemakers who multiply disciples. Using the “4 Chairs” discipleship framework, we explore the progression of spiritual growth—from seekers who are curious about Jesus to believers who ultimately become spiritual parents helping others follow Christ. Looking at Luke 10, we see how Jesus sent His followers out to practice the mission. Rather than trying to reach the world alone, Jesus trained disciples who would reach others, creating a movement of multiplication. This message challenges us to ask an important question: Are we simply following Jesus, or are we helping others follow Him too? Healthy disciple-making can be messy—much like parenting—but it is the way Jesus designed His mission to grow. Key Bible PassagesLuke 10:1–11 — Jesus sends out the seventy-two Luke 10:17–21 — The disciples return with joy Luke 6:40 — “Everyone who is fully trained will be like their teacher.” John 15:14–16 — Jesus calls His followers to go and bear lasting fruit Ephesians 6 — Standing firm against the attacks of the enemy The 4 Chairs of DiscipleshipChair 1 — Come and See (Seekers who need to know God) Chair 2 — Follow Me (Believers discovering freedom) Chair 3 — Fishers of Men (Workers discovering purpose) Chair 4 — Disciplemakers who multiply the mission of Jesus Jesus modeled how to equip disciplemakers who make more disciplemakers. Series: Like Jesus – The ModelThis series explores how Jesus made disciples and how we can follow His model today. New Believers Find Freedom | Chair 2 of Discipleship | Like Jesus – The Model

Like Jesus – The Model One of CityWell Church’s primary focuses in 2026 is to become a church full of people who want to be like Jesus. In this message, Pastor DJ Grick continues the series by looking at Chair 2: The New Believer. Jesus did not simply call people to believe in Him—He modeled how to root and establish new believers in their faith so they could grow strong and walk with Him. Using the framework of The 4 Chairs from the life and ministry of Jesus, this message focuses on what happens when someone moves from spiritual seeking to new life in Christ. Chair 2 is the season where a believer begins to find freedom—freedom from an old identity, freedom from sin patterns, and freedom to begin walking with Jesus in a real and growing way. This message explores how Jesus helped new believers grow through: dependence on the Holy SpiritprayerobedienceGod’s Wordglorifying the Fatherintentional relationships of love and integrityIt also looks at the practical needs of new believers as they learn their new identity in Christ, begin to walk in faith, speak the truth, feed themselves spiritually, and live a cleansed life by God’s grace. Come and See | Chair 1 of Discipleship | Like Jesus – The Model (Week 5)

Like Jesus – The Model | Week 5 In Week 5 of Like Jesus – The Model, Pastor DJ Grick teaches on Chair 1: The Seeker. Every person who comes to faith has a different story. Some were raised around the Gospel from childhood. Others came to faith later through long-term relationships, patient invitations, and the loving witness of Christ-followers. In this message, we look at how Jesus modeled reaching spiritually lost people with both truth and compassion. Chair 1 is not simply about helping nice people become a little more religious. Scripture teaches that apart from Christ, people are spiritually dead in sin and unable to save themselves. That is why evangelism matters. Jesus modeled how to partner with the Holy Spirit to move people toward repentance and faith in Christ. Using Isaiah 28, Ephesians 2, and the example of Jesus, this message explores the process of evangelism as: cultivating planting reaping Outreach is a process. We build relationships, plant Gospel seeds, and trust God for the harvest. Key Bible Passages Isaiah 28:23–26 — Wisdom in cultivation and planting Ephesians 2:1–3 — Dead in sin apart from Christ Ephesians 2:4–10 — Made alive by grace through faith Matthew 4:17 — “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near.” Acts 4:12 — Salvation is found in no one else 2 Corinthians 5:14–15 — Christ’s love compels us John 1:46 — “Come and see” Main Idea Jesus modeled how to partner with the Holy Spirit to reach out and challenge spiritually lost people toward repentance and faith in Christ. Chair 1: The Seeker The call of Chair 1 is simple: Come and see. The goal of Chair 1 is to help people Know God. At CityWell, our mission is to help people: Know God Find Freedom Discover Purpose Make an Impact What This Message Covers In this sermon, we look at how Jesus: entered into our world understood the people He was reaching made Himself available developed intentional relationships responded to spiritual interest clearly called people to repent and believe This message is also a challenge to the church: evangelism is most effective when it is motivated by love, lived out relationally, and grounded in the truth that Jesus Christ is the only way to be restored to God.
