Your podcast would be a lot better if you actually edited it and made it short and sweet. You leave nothing to the imagination by making episodes that are 2+ hours long. It is a surefire way to actually lose listeners. Also, everyone can tell the shift in audio quality between you and your guests, blatant video calling sounds super unprofessional, as do all the filler words (ie; umm, uhh etc) you use. This is why you must edit. This isn’t live radio, you can actually cut down length, save things for later (you know for like teaser videos to amp up your followers) , and improve your vocal performance really easily post-recording using specific software that caters to this kind of level of audio production. It’s great you have so many friends to pool from, but no one wants to listen to a full conversation of a podcaster and their friend. Most people won’t find it as entertaining as you and your friend do. So keep it short and maybe dissing yourself by saying “so and so probably won’t listen to my show” isn’t the best idea, no one likes a Debbie downer of a host. Also, did we really need to know that you needed one minute to check something? EDIT THAT OUT!!!Again, super unprofessional! As well as your inside jokes, save them for between you and your friends, that’s not something a podcast audience wants. Might as well try to get interviews with people you don’t know to actually make it engaging and challenging if this is the case. Also, just because you’re busy, doesn’t mean you shouldn’t post content consistently, once again you will lose followers for lack of consistency. Choose the frequency and stick to it! Could be weekly or monthly, but don’t make people wait for content because you forgot to post shows for two weeks and posted the episodes after you already returned from vacation. There’s a lot that could be done, so long as podcasting is really your livelihood. That said, the premise isn’t terrible, your content is pretty good, it just needs some tailoring before your goals can be met. The problem with podcasting is, so many others are doing it so it really helps to be not only original with the content, but also to actually research the aspects of the industry and actually be familiar with what makes a good podcast. Content alone will NOT carry you if you aren’t aware of presentation basics. You could be really informative but if your editing is crappy, your consistency is off, you don’t promote yourself, and keep it short enough to garner the attention of commuters ( your biggest fan base will most likely be this, because busy adults like something quick that they can listen to on the way to work and the average commute is 30 mins) THEN you may have a rough time trying to reel people into your show as long time supporters.
