The FD Podcast: S2 Episode 9: Fifteen Years ft. Shawn Khalifa

Welcome to the Fulfilling Destiny Podcast! Join Jan-Marini Pacleb and Shawn Khalifa, as Shawn shares his upbringing living in a community that was surrounded with crime as teenager and how he coped with the incarceration system for the fifteen years that he served. And then how he later focused his energy in helping with criminal justice reform. That and more on this special episode of the Fulfilling Destiny  Podcast! These are interviews with those who had experienced incarceration and  have underwent experiences of violence, racism, police brutality,  homelessness, drug-use, and mentioned/witnessed inhumane treatment of others including instances sexual assault and suicide. Before the episode was recorded, I had spent an ample of time to go over  what was safe for these guests to talk about and what they were willing  to share in the realm of their comfort.  While some of these topics are painful, these episodes are handled with  care and we only covered them as briefly as possible. But these are  lived experiences of those who went through a harsh system. But the topics of homelessness, financial poverty, period poverty,  education attainment, growth in adversity and human compassion is to be  the important take-away of these mature episodes.
