Episode 144- Immersion- Soak the Good Stuff In

Scott Pearson is a full-time freelance writer and editor working across multiple genres in both traditional and indie publishing. His published works include short stories and novellas in humor, mystery, horror, urban fantasy, and science fiction. His most recent publication is The Sad Rains of Mars: New and Collected Stories, which includes nine previously anthologized stories plus three stories exclusive to this edition. Forthcoming, with fellow author William Leisner, is their as-yet-untitled third volume of Tales of the Weird World War. Scott’s Star Trek fiction appears in a handful of anthologies and the e-book exclusive The More Things Change. Although he coscripted two IMAX space documentaries, Space Next and Touch the Stars, they’ve never been booked in his home state, so he’s never seen his name on the big screen. He was an in-house nonfiction editor for ten years, primarily of military history, before getting laid off and going freelance and shifting to fiction. He copyedited the Simon & Schuster Star Trek novels for ten years before becoming their developmental editor. He’s an editor and occasional writer for the Star Trek Adventures roleplaying game and proofreads graphic novels and comic books for IDW, including their Star Trek titles. He also copyedits for Baen Books and works directly with many indie authors on their self-published books in the above-mentioned genres. Somewhere in all of that he hopes to finally finish his first novel. Scott and his wife, Sandra, live in the wilds of Minnesota. Turns out, navigating high school without knowing all fifty states while thinking in German makes for interesting conversations and even better story material. Writing became my happy place, starting with shared notebooks and collaborative stories that helped me master English while building friendships. Of course, life had other plans, throwing chronic migraines and health challenges into the mix for over twenty-five years. But hey, when life gives you mysterious symptoms, you become a natural health research ninja! I've tried everything from extreme nutrition plans to tailored exercise routines, and I've learned more about wellness than I ever expected. My debut YA fantasy The Phoenix Host actually started with a tiny blue agate necklace from my rock-loving dad. That little stone sparked an entire world where my main character deals with magically-induced headaches. Because, apparently I write what I know, even in fantasy! After twelve rejection letters and an… interesting publishing experience, I found my publishing groove and have now released all four books in the Roanfire Saga, with over 4,000 copies sold. I write for teens who are figuring out where they belong in this crazy world, probably because I'm still figuring that out myself. These days, having finally cracked the code on my health puzzle, I'm fascinated by how stories can be both our escape hatch when we need a break, and our compass when we're ready to face whatever comes next. Currently diving into the mental and brain side of health because, well, because there’s always another chapter.

    138- Inner Strength

Life sometimes surprises us with unexpected challenges. Dealing with those requires inner Strength, resources and more. Join us as we discuss this idea and the guest's experience with dyslexia. Cyndi Brec writes her heroine into dangerous webs of deception while she sips French vanilla iced coffee. A three-times five-star Readers' Favorite recipient, YA fantasy romance debut novelist, Cyndi Brec has snagged a few endorsements from notable authors: Jonas Saul, the bestselling author of the Sarah Roberts Series; Alan Warren, NBC Radio Host/Producer/Author; and Suzy Vadori, Author and critic of the Fountain Series.  An avid reader turned writer, her background as a Recreational Therapy Technician, traveler, historical site owner, and legend sleuth provides a wealth of experience and perspectives that have deeply enriched her storytelling. After marrying, she traveled to Europe and many of the States. However, Ohio is her home, where she and her husband raised two great kids and several energetic dogs. Her love of history was enriched by co-owning a 200-year-old historic watermill with her husband for over 20 years, which has fostered an appreciation of historical knowledge and cultivation of The Therans Series. Cyndi is currently working on an anthology and co-authoring a historical nonfiction book. She also speaks on Time Management Strategies for Authors Success: Managing Your Minutes, aiming to inspire fellow authors to live their dreams. Cyndi’s just a regular gal—storyteller, speaker, and co-host of the P English Literature podcast. She’s a sidekick podcaster interviewing authors and serving book banter. 'The Therans: Secrets Beneath Scars' is a tension-building, fight-for-survival high-stakes fantasy set against the mysterious backdrop of an Ohioan town -- a slow-burn modern-day romance with an introverted yet fiercely loyal coming-of-age female heroine. Episode 137- The More You Know, The More You Grow

We live in a 3d world, a world of sights, sounds, tastes, smells and things to touch. So it might be normal to forget that much of what we see, smell, hear, taste and touch came from someone's inner world, their knowledge. It came from their desires, dreams, goals, thoughts and imagination. Building your knowledge is more than just learning facts and trivia. There's more than just mental knowledge. There's emotional, interpersonal and even learning how to hear one's own intuitive voice. Join us as we explore and discuss different aspects of knowledge such as: 1. Self-Awareness and Acceptance of personality, beliefs, strengths and weaknesses. 2. Clarity and Control: Knowledge can lead to a greater sense of clarity and control over your life, as you become more aware of your values, needs, and desires. 3. Wholeness and Balance: alignment, rather than masking parts of yourself. 4. Meaning and Purpose: By connecting different aspects of your life and experiences, you can create a more meaningful and purposeful existence. 5. Stronger Boundaries: more meaningful relationships and a greater sense of integrity through a knowledge of communication, personality types and other factors 6. Emotional and Mental Well-being: Learning self care and stress relief techniques 7. Overcoming Limiting Beliefs: By exploring different aspects of yourself, you can uncover limiting beliefs and work towards personal growth and transformation, and authenticity. ,Join us for this timely discussion full of practical tips. We'll also delve into David Wolfson's books and journey as a writer. We have a lot to talk about.
