Ep. 289 - Caroline Milne Menopause Coach, Fear of Flying and Anxiety

Did you use to fly with ease, but now the mere thought of an airplane cabin triggers intense panic and heart palpitations? The problem might not be the flight itself—it could be your hormones. In this episode of the Lovefly Podcast, we sit down with former NHS nurse and specialized Menopause Coach Caroline Milne to pull back the curtain on the hidden biological link between perimenopause and sudden travel anxiety. Discover how fluctuating oestrogen and progesterone levels steal your brain's natural ability to stay calm, why it leads to "catastrophizing" on flights, and how you can take control of your nervous system to travel freely again. What you’ll learn in this episode: The science of how a drop in progesterone directly sparks sudden, midlife anxiety. Why physical symptoms like hot flushes are frequently misidentified by the brain as flight panic. Unusual signs of perimenopause you probably haven't heard of (tinnitus, joint pain, and formication). The exact step-by-step lifestyle changes—from hydration to strategic breathwork—that eliminate brain fog and anxiety. What "postmenopausal zest" is and why there is massive hope for the future. Ep. 284 - Andrew McGowan Aviation Security Specialist Delta Airlines

In this episode you will take a deep dive into what Aviation Security is all about and hear from an established Global Expert in this topic - Andrew McGowan from Delta Airlines. Andrew joined the Royal Air Force straight from college as a (very young) Policeman and went on to serve for 22 years in various roles including general Policing, Nuclear Weapon Security, Aviation Security, and VIP Security.  He completed operational tours, in Afghanistan as part of the NATO ISAF Military Police force in Kabul, and later in Iraq on the UK’s Operation Herrick deployment.  His last 8 years in the RAF saw him posted to Number 32 (The Royal) Squadron where he had responsibility for the security planning and execution of RAF flights carrying the UK’s Royal Family members and UK Government ministers including the PM. In 2012, his RAF days came to an end and he formally retrained in Aviation Security Management, going on to work for Thomson Airways (now TUI Airlines) as the Airline Security Manager.  Since 2017 Andrew has been serving as a Regional Corporate Security Manager for Delta Airlines, covering Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.  In this role, Andrew helps protect the airline’s customers, staff, and assets from any unlawful acts and security risks across the region, working closely with Airport Security departments, various Governmental Security organisations, Law Enforcement agencies, and equivalent teams in other Airlines. Ep. 283 - Breathwork with Jane Randall and Laura Greenham

Today, we talk about breathing!  Breathwork expert Jane Randall joins us with Laura Greenham who has been helped by Lovefly AND Breathwork with Jane. About Jane: I spent the early part of my career as an Air Hostess flying with British Caledonian flying both short and long haul to West African, North and South Americas and Europe my first long haul was to Abidjan on the Ivory Coast with Blue Sky holidays……. I have continued to travel throughout my life and now regularly fly to Canada and New Zealand to visit my children.  After raising my family I indulged in my passion of horses and being a competitor competed in my first International Dressage test four years later. This led to me becoming a Performance Coach for Equestrians and a MSc in Sports Coaching.  I soon realised that the challenges I was helping people with in sport were the same that people face in every day life including anxiety around flying. Now I coach people in all walks of life wrapping my performance coaching around functional breathing practices, daily practices that can be done anywhere to overcome pressure, anxiety, overthinking and confidence so that they can focus on the the things that matter to them.  My approach is supportive, grounded in science  giving people the tools to regulate their nervous system. Repeating the logo of B’Cal “We never forget you have a choice”  If we choose to we can all make changes - just like Laura who conquered her sky! Jane Randall - Signaturebreath.com / instagram @signature_breath_ / facebook @janerandall Contact : jane@signaturebreath.com About Laura: I'm Laura Greenham, a wedding and portrait photographer from Berkshire. I have been part of the LoveFly Community since 2012 and have found it absolutely fantastic. As someone who suffers from claustrophobia and having experienced intense nervousness around flying, I wanted to share my recent journey with you how I’ve learned to manage my anxiety and build confidence in the air using LoveFly Knowledge and practical breathing techniques and mind set shifts with Jane. This has helped me get through the long-awaited build up to the trip, the airport to being on the plane. I'm excited to "look forward" to future trips away!
