Dr Brunilda Kosta, PhD, PMP®, is a Professor of Management at the Faculty of Economy, University of Tirana, Albania, and a leading circular economy expert in the Western Balkans. With over a decade of experience spanning academia, international development, and the private sector, she has worked with businesses, policymakers, and international organisations to advance the transition from linear to circular business models. Her research focuses on the links between circular economy, innovation, entrepreneurship, sustainability, and business performance, providing some of the first empirical evidence on the impact of circular practices on firm competitiveness in the region. Through collaborations with organisations such as CIPE, Helvetas, GIZ, Circle Economy, RCC, and ELA, Dr Kosta has contributed to evidence-based policies and practical solutions for sustainable development. She advocates for a broader understanding of the circular economy as a model driven by resource efficiency, innovation, business transformation, and resilience rather than waste management alone. Recognised with the Circular Economy Award in the Education and Research Category, she continues to champion the circular economy as both a sustainability imperative and a catalyst for competitive, inclusive, and resilient economies.
