In the Preview, we learn the drastic stakes of the project: other nations have seen popular protest movements challenge Authoritarian leaders, and have suffered intense crackdowns by their governments. Could the United States of America be next? If so, what might such a scenario realistically look like?

Written from the perspective of Lodestar Magazine journalist Max Ezer in 2022, Twelve Days in June examines real events leading up to the 2020 Presidential election and forecasts speculative events beyond. In Part I: Prelude, we see Donald Trump securing a second term in office. With his grasp on power seemingly secure, his administration sets out to drastically restrict civil liberties laws after a terrorist attack in early 2021. In response, Washington Post reporter Michael Glazer breaks a story that will ultimately throw the country into crisis.

In Part II: The Square, Washington Post reporter Michael Glazer has suffered life-threatening wounds after an attack by a gunman seemingly motivated by one of Trump’s tweets. Outrage coalesces into a demonstration, then a movement, after the administration’s response prompts another bloody spectacle: this one broadcast on live TV.

In Part III: Rosewater, suspicious activity near Mar-a-Lago prompts a frenzied reaction from the forces charged with protecting the President. Meanwhile, the Trump Out movement threatens to outgrow the forces capable of containing it, raising the possibility of a dangerous escalation to military force and martial law.

In Part V: Full Firepower, the crisis has reached apocalyptic dimensions: a nuclear threat against unspecified enemies has the entire world on edge. With the idea of a return to normalcy shattered to oblivion, the task falls to Congress to hammer out an unprecedented compromise.
