The Werewolf Den

As someone who really likes Werewolf The Apocalypse, and has wanted to play it for a while, this podcast really helped me shape not just my view of the game but also my view of the lore and how I can use it to enrich my player’s experience of the game. Its got great advice for Storytellers as well as Players, though I wish there was more content and while there are some audio issues on the first two episodes, I would ask that people still give it a shot for an enriching, keenly political and wonderful analysis of WTA and all it has to offer as a game.

Pros: - Both hosts are clearly very experienced with playing and running WtA both in LARP and tabletop settings. - They have really strong, clear, opinions about the material. This rules. - Their actionable advice is all really good. - Their alternative totem bans in particular are really interesting, evocative, and all around great material for characters, PCs and NPCs alike. - (Also they aren’t fascists which is a low bar but hey this is WtA we’re talking about) Cons: - Can come off as a bit condescending at times. - Several episodes spend the majority of their runtime explaining all the ways someone can engage with the material in bad faith. The Black Fury episode in particular suffers from this. I’d rather hear y’all talk about the subject matter instead of detailing all the ways a player can say they don’t like girls or whatever. - (While they aren’t fascists I’m also not sure if they know what fascism is??? They seemed really confused about people seeing WtA and specifically the Get as fashy so I guess just go read “Ur-Fascism” by Umberto Eco???)
