    Coffee with the Candidates 2023- Jeff Cheney

    Our FINAL recording for Coffee with the Candidates is with the Mayor himself Jeff Cheney.   Since neither of his opponents chose to come on the show, we opened up the conversation more about his experience as Mayor, and we discussed some of the topics we are dealing with in Frisco.   We learned about his favorite projects over the years and what he really wants to accomplish before he leaves his role.  We dived into the Universal Studio controversy and what to expect on the Downtown Frisco development.  Members of the Leadership Frisco Class XXIV, Dan Peril and Kevin Rackers join the show to tell us about their upcoming fundraiser and class project.  We can't "espresso" our excitement for this episode!

    If you haven't visited the new $61M Frisco Library, you are missing out!  We had to get the inside scoop on the history, vision and the future of our amazing library.   Learn what was in the original Beal Building, and how it came about to be our new place to learn.   It's not just books anymore!   This was a super fun episode where we learned there's a missing dinosaur walking through the halls, little robots to program, and tools to make your own books!

    Did you know that the VIsual Arts Guild of Frisco https://www.vagf.org   has been around for ove 20 years?  Learn how this non-profit contributes to our artistic nature and puts local artists out in the community.  They have an upcoming event on April 13-15 called En Plein Air where artists create art in one of three locations in Frisco.   Will Ed show up and show his artistic nature?  Only time will tell!   Suade lubricates your co-hosts with some amazing bourbon called ROXOR  (a botancial bourbon)and it doesn't disappoint!

    Universal Studios, Citizens Bond Committee & Animal Shelter

    We welcome 2023 with exciting news...er... depending on who you're talking to... but personally, we are excited about the news of Universal Studios Theme parks coming to Frisco with a NEW CONCEPT never seen before on this scale!  We talk about what the park IS and Isn't and what the potential impact it will be for our community.   We invited community superstar Tracy Shipman who is currently serving on the Community Bond Committee to talk about what they do, and what potential projects are being presented.. including a Animal Shelter.    The Animal Shelter has become a hot topic on whether or not we need one as a community.  Your podcast duo was quite surprised at some of the statistics!   After you listen to the show, tell us what you think about an animal shelter in Frisco!

    Let’s get into the Christmas Spirit everyone!   Brick and I talk favorite things we love about Christmas.   Christmas Drinks, yummy treats and Holiday Movies!  We breakdown the new and EPIC movie VIOLENT NIGHT!  Santa is ticked off at all the “little junkies” around the world and is ready to give up on it all… Low and behold, we learn the true history of our Celtic hero, and get a front row seat of his carnage to save a little girl… when in reality..  she saves him.    Learn some of the behind the scenes and Easter Eggs that will make you go appreciate the little details!   Also new this year is Peter Billingsly’s Christmas Story Christmas.    Set in 1973 as with Ralphie as an adult trying to keep the spirit of Christmas alive…   Is it worth the watch?  We’ll tell you the details and more EASTER EGGS!

    Books and Bathrooms- How FISD is managing the balance of rights and opinions

    This week we invite FISD president Rene Archambault and past president John Classe on an in-depth discussion on the recent FISD hot topics.  The discussion of appropriate books in our school libraries and the use of the public bathrooms for all students including LGTBQ students has become a focal point in the past year and we dive right in on what is causing the upsurge of concern.   Come to find out… the bathroom issues go far beyond WHO is using WHICH bathrooms, but also what is happening IN the bathrooms.   We were pretty surprised of the statistics.   These topics are hot on the trail of our political far left and far right environments and really shows how our FISD board is balancing out the noise from each side to ensure they are creating the right learning environment for our children.  We also dive into the process the schools district is doing to manage these issues.  Tell us what you think!
