    Veteran’s PTSD Recovery

In this powerful and heartfelt episode, I’m joined by Andy Steele, whose life journey is a profound testament to resilience, self-healing, and transformation.Andy’s career began in the late 1980s with the British Parachute Regiment, where he developed discipline, strength, and leadership while serving during the conflict in Northern Ireland. After leaving the military, he went on to serve his community for 16 years with Cumbria Fire & Rescue Service. Throughout both careers, Andy was repeatedly exposed to traumatic incidents that ultimately led to Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).Behind the uniform, however, was a much earlier story of trauma. Andy shares, with courage and honesty, his first childhood memory of being beaten by his father — a moment that marked the beginning of years of physical, emotional, and psychological abuse. At just 14 years of age, Andy ran away from home and later joined the paratroopers, driven by a deep need to prove his worth and finally gain his father’s approval — recognition that never came. For much of his life, Andy was focused on rescuing others. It wasn’t until PTSD brought him to a breaking point that he realised he needed to rescue himself. His healing journey introduced him to Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), Hypnotherapy, and the Kinetic Shift Technique — modalities that helped him rebuild his sense of safety, self-worth, and inner peace. Inspired by his own recovery, Andy retrained as a qualified practitioner and went on to run a successful full-time practice, supporting others through anxiety, stress, and trauma.Today, Andy delivers talks and workshops rooted in compassion, empowerment, and hope — helping other people evolve. He speaks openly about what it means to feel safe within yourself, to show up fully in your own life, and to break generational cycles of trauma — not only for yourself, but for your children. This conversation offers insight, hope, and reassurance to veterans, first responders, trauma survivors, and anyone walking their own healing path.💛 If this episode resonates, please like, subscribe, and share — you never know who might need to hear this story.Connect with Andy on:https://www.instagram.com/steele_andy_/https://www.facebook.com/Andy.Steele.phoenixhttps://www.linkedin.com/in/andy-steele-5412a718a/To connect to your host Sharon please go to: https://www.sharonfitzmauricemindfulness.com This is a public episode. FEB 23

    Healing the Inner Child

This gentle and empowering talk by Sharon Fitzmaurice is an invitation to pause, soften, and turn inward. In this episode, we explore the healing journey through trauma recovery, inner child awareness, and the rebuilding of self-worth. With compassion and reflection, this conversation speaks to the parts of us that learned to survive, adapted to be safe, and quietly waited to be seen, heard, and held. This is a space for anyone on a healing journey — whether you are just beginning or have been walking this path for some time. Together, we gently unravel old patterns, acknowledge the impact of lived experiences, and reconnect with the truth of who you are beneath the wounds. At the end of the talk, you are guided through a grounding and energetic practice designed to help you settle into your body, restore a sense of safety, and integrate the healing on a deeper level. This practice can be returned to whenever you need support, calm, or reconnection.Take what resonates, move at your own pace, and know that your healing is valid, worthy, and unfolding in its own time.Affirm"I am safe in this moment.I honour the parts of me that learned to survive, and I gently welcome the parts of me that are ready to heal.I am allowed to move at my own pace.My feelings matter. My experiences are valid.I choose compassion over criticism, presence over pressure, and connection over fear.I am learning to trust myself again.I am worthy of love, care, and gentleness — exactly as I am.I am healing.I am whole. And I am enough."Sharon - https://www.sharonfitzmauricemindfulness.com This is a public episode.
