Hey there! I'm Sydney and in my podcast "Americanized Korean" I ramble about random life stories while also diving into my experiences as a 2nd gen Korean-American and how essentially having a "split identity" has shaped my life. Here, I talk about things like being too Korean for my non-Asian friends, while never being Asian enough to Korean friends, or why I used to spend my days putting crickets in a pencil box and wishing puffles were real.     Academic Burnout and Hypothyroidism

    Hey everyone! It's been a while... In this episode, I wanted to touch on the topic of falling out of touch with school. Initially, I wanted to focus on the hardships of school on my mental health starting from day one and the things I went through during my high school and in-person college days, but the other day, I found out I have hypothyroidism, which means my thyroid gland doesn't make enough thyroid hormones. I cut the episode into two parts where I focus on burnout struggles and my symptoms and how I thought the two correlated together.     I used to be a SIMP (Crush Stories)

    Everyone uses the word simp pretty loosely nowadays, but when I tell you I simped for people, I SIMPED for people. In this episode, I share my experiences with the guys I liked growing up, and how being in the friendzone went for me. I talk about the main people I liked from Kindergarten till now and how it all went down for me as an insanely, desperate, shell of a person.  No, I do not use their real names nor anything associated with their names, but the stories are still 100% true. Also fair warning, I yell a little bit, but I tried to make it as bearable as possible.

    College was Fun while it Lasted

    My time at the college dorms was fun, but sadly short-lived. I tell some of my fond moments at the dorms, including random people throwing up in my hall, our college's annual mosh pit of a party, and getting to know some of my hallmates.

    Korean-Christian Cliques (can sUCK)

    I grew up going to church my whole life and based on the fact that I'm Korean, you could assume that I've been around a good amount of Korean people my whole life. The only problem? I felt isolated. Not that I got bullied, but it was unintentional isolation. It's been one of the main issues of being Americanized, and in this episode, I talk about how I grew up keeping my church life and school life separated and why I had so much "hate" for these cliques.     (You might hear echoing in the beginning cuz I forgot to put in earbuds when recording the first part, sorry about that!)

    "Alright let's go around the room and say our name, grade, major, and a fUn fact about yourselves" Uh, you see my major is kinda the fun fact because it's already such a conversation starter as it is so it's something that I always get questioned about. In this episode, I talk about how my childhood shaped me into having this passion and why I tend to avoid talking about it overall. This episode is a pretty weird one to say the least, but I hope you check it out to see what the heck I'm talking about! Fun fact: I recorded episode 4 before this one!

    Yep, you read that correctly, that isn't a typo. I graduated from Zoo, or what it is formally known as the Zoo Magnet Center. My high school was next to the LA Zoo and in this episode, I tell (more like ramble about) a few stories and incidences that happened during my four years of being a part of my school's program.
