Cooltown is a cinematic electronic music project blending progressive house, melodic techno, trance, and underground rave energy into an immersive world built on emotion, movement, and escapism. ​ The roots of the project trace back to the early days of Los Angeles rave culture, where a first exposure to electronic music sparked a lifelong obsession with melody, atmosphere, and the transformative power of the dance floor. What began as a fascination with trance and euphoric electronic music soon expanded into a deeper exploration of progressive house, melodic techno, rave culture, and the many sounds that would eventually shape the foundation of Cooltown. ​ Long before emerging as an artist project, the vision behind Cooltown was forged through years immersed in underground dance music culture. During that time, hundreds of club nights, concerts, and electronic music events were promoted and produced throughout Portland, Oregon, creating a deep connection to the communities, artists, and experiences that continue to inspire the project today. ​ Drawing heavily from video game soundtracks, futuristic cityscapes, rave nostalgia, and emotional storytelling, every Cooltown record, mix, and visual is designed to feel like stepping into another dimension. Euphoric melodies, deep grooves, cinematic tension, warmth, and underground energy come together to create a world that feels both nostalgic and forward looking. ​ Central to that world is Cooltown's signature yellow aesthetic. What began as a simple all yellow rave outfit years before the project officially existed gradually evolved into something much larger, becoming a symbol of optimism, escapism, nostalgia, and connection. Today, the color serves as a beacon guiding Citizens deeper into the ever expanding world of Cooltown. ​ With more than 150 original productions, 30+ signed releases, two full length albums, including the self titled debut album Cooltown, and over 250 episodes of the long running PFB Radio series, Cooltown continues to evolve as an independent electronic music universe built for dreamers, ravers, and Citizens around the globe. 💛
