In this episode of Beyond Just Christian Podcast, Brenna discusses how our desires can lead to temptations that may affect our relationships, both future and current. More specifically, she discusses what we can do to keep our consciences clear and how to not fall into slavery of sexual sin. By the end of this episode, Brenna hopes listeners will be able to have better self-awareness and self-control with their bodies, hearts, and minds. Self-Reflection Questions: Is my sexual sin often pre-determined, or do I place myself in compromising situations which later lead to engaging in the sexual sin? Meaning, was this a willful choice/scenario, or did I think I was strong enough to resist my temptations before falling into it once again? Who am I teamed with: God or the enemy? It says in Matthew 12:30, “Whoever is not with Him is against Him.” Often my decisions reflect who I paired/teamed up with. I can either be with God, actively pursuing His will for my life, or I can be teamed up with the enemy, willfully choosing to please myself and my own flesh despite what God says. Knowing this, would my actions please my Lord and Savior or would it please my enemy, Satan? What are some useful ways I can control my desires, temptations, and have better relationships? List 3 ways. For the women listening: How do I interact well with men when it comes to my desires, temptations, and relationships/friendships? In what ways do I act poorly (if any)?To the men listening: How do I interact well with women when it comes to my desires, temptations, and relationships/friendships? In what ways do I act poorly (if any)?Psalm 119: 1-3 says, “Joyful are people of integrity, who follow the instructions of the Lord. Joyful are those who obey his laws and search for him with all their hearts. They do not compromise with evil, and they walk only in His paths.” Any compromise we make with Satan gives him the leverage and advantage over us, making it easier for him to attack and manipulate the situation in his favor. Knowing that our sin allows him a foothold or an open invitation to wreck us, how can we stay on God’s path when it comes to purity, honesty, and humility? In other words, how do we refuse to compromise our values, morals, and beliefs? What boundaries do I need to enforce, and what triggers am I aware of?
