    Guarded by Peace

What do you do when your world feels like it's standing at the edge of the Red Sea — nowhere to go but forward, and only God can make a way? In this message, Pastor Tommy gets honest about a kind of peace he didn't know how to explain until recently: not the absence of hard circumstances, but a steadiness that held even while everything around him was uncertain. Walking through Philippians 4:4–9, Pastor Tommy unpacks what it actually looks like to stop trying to fix everything yourself and instead bring it to God — rejoicing, praying, and giving thanks even in the middle of the problem, not just after it's solved. He shares a personal story from the church's early, broke years — a $30,000 need, a prayer he didn't want to pray, and a check that showed up from the last person anyone expected — as a real-life picture of what it means to actually put these verses to the test rather than just quote them. The message also turns to Deuteronomy 8's warning: that the greatest spiritual danger often isn't crisis, but comfort — the quiet risk of forgetting God once things are going well. Pastor Tommy connects this straight to submission: peace isn't just a feeling to chase, it's tied to actually living out what you've been taught, especially when you'd rather do it your own way. The message closes with an invitation for anyone ready to come back to God, wherever they've drifted. In this message: Philippians 4:4–9 — the peace that "exceeds anything we can understand" Deuteronomy 8:8–19 — the danger of forgetting God in seasons of plenty A real story of provision from Atlanta Dream Center's early days Why submission, not just sentiment, is at the heart of real peace
