A lot of other reviews have derided this podcast for how certain words are pronounced. This has been a predominant criticism of the show, and while it’s not totally unwarranted, the significance of this criticism is overblown. The information the podcast provides is fantastic and enlightening, and the creators go an extra mile by often connecting the stories to more modern and topical events. This I think really helps show the modern relevance of past events, a point which is often unclear for students.

The history part seems mostly correct and interesting. However, like many spaces on the internet today, in a recent episode, the podcaster infuses some of his historical oratory with modern political commentary. It’s unclear how politicizing history, in terms of a contemporary context, as here or in other podcasts on the ancient world, is appropriate or helpful. It lends a soviet flavor, in that everything in the soviet union, from agriculture to manufacturing, was heavily imbued with soviet philosophy, with disastrous consequences for many. It may seem virtuous now, but it may not bear the weight of history. Will keep listening. Hope he focuses more on history and less on preaching any flavor of political gospel.

I started listening to your sun king series and spotted a few historical inaccuracies in the first episode alone and the French names were terribly mispronounced to the point that it came across as poorly researched/ poorly informed and almost offensive to French culture and language - if this podcast is aimed at students I think you need to improve in these areas!!
