EP322 What Does It Mean to Walk by the Spirit? (Galatians 5:16–26)

What does it mean to walk by the Spirit? And why do Christians experience a struggle between the flesh and the Spirit? In this episode of That You May Know Him, Blake continues his verse-by-verse study of Galatians with a look at Galatians 5:16–26. Paul contrasts the works of the flesh with the fruit of the Spirit and calls believers to keep in step with the Spirit. But what does that look like in everyday life? Together, we’ll explore the conflict between the flesh and the Spirit, what it means to be led by the Spirit, and why Paul says those who are led by the Spirit are not under the law. We’ll also consider how this passage connects to the freedom we have in Christ and our calling to love and serve one another. This is episode 322 of That You May Know Him and part 12 of our verse-by-verse Galatians series. EP321 Did the New Testament Writers Take Scripture Out of Context? | Bible Q&A Rewind

Did the New Testament writers take Old Testament passages out of context? Matthew connects Isaiah’s prophecy of a virgin conceiving with the birth of Jesus, while Hebrews applies Jeremiah’s promise of a new covenant to the people of Christ. How do these interpretations relate to what those passages originally meant? In this Bible Q&A clip, Blake explores how the inspired New Testament writers reveal mysteries embedded in Israel’s Scriptures—and why Christ is the key to understanding the whole biblical story. We consider why original context matters, what makes the apostles’ interpretation distinctive, and how their writings help us recognize the fulfillment of God’s promises in Jesus. ▶️Watch the full Bible Q&A episode: “Did Isaiah Actually Write Isaiah?”: https://www.youtube.com/live/0H8cFhFt0NY?si=AF5qbNr8in8ccXfa ▶️ Subscribe to the Ministry Channel Never miss future Bible studies, podcasts, and monthly Bible Q&A episodes. https://www.youtube.com/@thatyoumayknowhim?sub_confirmation=1 📖 FREE 12-Month Bible Reading Plans https://www.thatyoumayknowhim.com/bible-reading-plans 📚 FREE Bible Study Resources https://www.thatyoumayknowhim.com/bible-study-resources 👕 Ministry Apparel Wear the Word. EP320 Does Your Salvation Depend on YOUR Faith—or HIS? | Bible Q&A Rewind

📖 About This Episode: Are we saved through faith in Jesus Christ—or through the faithfulness of Jesus Christ? In Galatians 2:20, a small difference in translation opens up a much larger question about how we understand Paul. In this Bible Q&A clip, Blake explores the debate behind “faith in Christ” and “faith of Christ,” explains the competing interpretations in plain language, and considers what each emphasizes about our trust in Jesus and his faithfulness to us. Why do scholars read the same Greek phrase differently? And what does this discussion mean for the Christian life? EP319 What Happened to the Twelve Tribes of Israel?

📖 About This Episode: What happened to the twelve tribes of Israel? Did the ten northern tribes really disappear—or is their story more complicated than the familiar phrase “the ten lost tribes” suggests? In Luke’s Gospel, Anna is identified as a woman from the tribe of Asher. Yet centuries after the Assyrian conquest, she is worshiping at the temple in Jerusalem when Mary and Joseph bring the infant Jesus. How did a descendant of one of the supposedly lost tribes end up there? In this study, we follow Israel’s story through the divided kingdom, the Assyrian and Babylonian exiles, and the return to Jerusalem. We examine the Israelites who were deported, those who remained, and those who had already moved into Judah. Along the way, we explore the origins of the Samaritans, the historical background of Jesus’ conversation with the woman at the well in John 4, and Josephus’s surprising statement about the ten tribes beyond the Euphrates. The evidence does not give us a complete map of every tribe’s descendants. But it does help us distinguish the disappearance of a kingdom from the disappearance of its people—and brings us back to Anna, a daughter of Asher who recognizes the arrival of Israel’s Messiah. 🔗 Resources Mentioned in This Episode: John 4 verse-by-verse LIVE Bible study: https://www.youtube.com/live/C8zUa1sOYKI?si=c3JSjgSOFHs70L6j John 4 Bible study handout download: https://www.thatyoumayknowhim.com/post/john-4-bible-study-questions-and-answers ▶️ Subscribe to the Ministry Channel Never miss future Bible studies, podcasts, and monthly Bible Q&A episodes. https://www.youtube.com/@thatyoumayknowhim?sub_confirmation=1 📖 FREE 12-Month Bible Reading Plans https://www.thatyoumayknowhim.com/bible-reading-plans 📚 FREE Bible Study Resources https://www.thatyoumayknowhim.com/bible-study-resources 👕 Ministry Apparel Wear the Word. EP318 Bible Q&A: Did Isaiah Actually Write Isaiah?

📖 About This Episode: Did Isaiah actually write the entire book bearing his name? And how could he name Cyrus—the Persian king who would help deliver God’s people—roughly 150 years before it happened? In this Bible Q&A, we examine why many scholars argue for multiple authors of Isaiah and why I find the traditional view of Isaiah’s authorship more persuasive. We consider the book’s historical setting, its literary and theological continuity, and the New Testament’s testimony. We also explore three more questions: • Did the New Testament writers take Old Testament verses out of context? • If God forgives our sins, why will Christians still face judgment? • Are we saved by the faith of Jesus Christ or by faith in Jesus Christ? What does Galatians 2:20 mean? Join us as we work through these questions with attention to Scripture, historical context, and what they mean for our faith. EP317 Can You Lose Your Freedom in Christ? (Galatians 5:1–15)

📖 About This Episode: Christ has set us free. So why does Paul warn the Galatians that they could be “severed from Christ” and “fallen away from grace”? In this verse-by-verse teaching through Galatians 5:1–15, we examine Paul’s warning against seeking to be right with God through the law—and what it means to stand firm in the freedom Christ has given us. We’ll also see why Christian freedom leads us to serve one another in love. Can you lose your freedom in Christ? Let’s read Paul’s words carefully. 📖 Passage: Galatians 5:1-15 Join us as we study Galatians verse by verse. That You May Know Him, Episode 317. EP316 The Strongest Biblical Argument for Israel’s Future

📖 About This Episode: Does the New Testament leave Israel’s story unfinished? In this video, we examine the strongest biblical argument for Israel’s future through three important passages connected by one word: until. What did Jesus mean when he said Jerusalem would not see him again until it welcomed him? What are “the times of the Gentiles”? And who is the “all Israel” that Paul says will be saved in Romans 11? We’ll examine Matthew 23, Luke 21, Romans 11, and Zechariah 12–14 to determine whether these passages anticipate a future turning or restoration of Israel. EP315 What the Bible Left Out About Moses’ Early Life in Egypt

📖 About This Episode: What happened to Moses before he fled Egypt for Midian? Exodus tells us surprisingly little about his years in Pharaoh’s household. But the first-century Jewish historian Josephus tells a much fuller story. In this video, we examine Josephus’s account of Moses’s childhood in the Egyptian court, his campaign against the Ethiopians, the siege of Saba, and his marriage to Tharbis. We also compare Josephus with earlier accounts preserved by Artapanus and Philo of Alexandria. Did these writers preserve details the Bible leaves out, or were they expanding Moses’s story in ways that reflected their own times? We’ll distinguish what Exodus says from what these later sources claim—and consider how Christians should read those traditions today.
