The Voice Notes

Bad B Bookclub

The whole idea behind Bad B The Voice Notes is to start having difficult and controversial conversations so that we can learn and grow together as a community. We will be covering an array of topics and wanted to keep the feel of the show casual so that you can listen to it anytime. While we are pursuing higher education in Law, we have a much wider interest in social justice, climate justice, mental health and sustainability. We also want to disclaim that we know we don’t know everything! We are still learning just like you, and would love to hear your input on our work!

Ep.3- dealing with toxic productivity, passive consumption & home-sickness

music for our podcast was created by the wonderful @djstreaks Episode Information: This weeks episode is a little different from previous episodes as we focus a lot more on our current personal experiences and mental health. We start by discussing some of the things that are helping us get through lockdown and homesickness, as well as the whole in-person/online learning scenario and how we took the human connection for granted in our first year at uni. Our discussion afterwards centres around the dangerous ‘productivity culture’ that is so prevalent on social media and how it has been impacting our mental health lately (I mean we can’t even take productive rest anymore!). We end the episode with a note about passive consumption and how we should really just allow our brains the space to think it’s own thoughts and vibe. We hope this episode makes you feel less alone if you resonated with any of our experiences and if you have a differing view please do not hesitate to get in touch with us- you know how much we love hearing other opinions! Ep.2- climate policy, optical activism & sustainability in a capitalist society

music for our podcast was created by the wonderful @djstreaks    Episode Information: This episode was recorded in September 2020 prior to the 2020 US presidential election. This episode, in particular, is one that we're both really proud of. We started out chatting about environmental issues in our kitchen, but after the conversation got flowing we decided it was too good to waste, and so we decided to record it. The topics we discuss are also very close to our heart and we wanted to share the conversation. We go into climate policy and how it has been impacted by both the Trump administration and Brexit. We then move into fast-fashion and consumer responsibility, sharing our journeys to becoming more conscious and ethical in the way we buy.    Links to resources we referenced throughout the episode:   - The Shit Show:  https://open.spotify.com/episode/3oIOkiv7VTYHCSZpi3mllw?si=KlZf0z-1TRO56goXhKZlPg - The Cutting Room Floor:  https://open.spotify.com/show/0QufNU4gLEsB7XeckMMrd2?si=ClLrGETcSLOiiqOJjd5hvw    Show Information: The whole idea behind Bad B The Voice Notes is to start having difficult and controversial conversations so that we can learn and grow together as a community. Ep.1- removing the shame around jealousy through the feminist lense

music for our podcast was created by the wonderful @djstreaks    Episode Information: This weeks episode is all about jealousy and how it manifests in all of us as a natural human emotion. We unpack the shame around feeling it and a couple of coping mechanisms we use in our life. We further the discussion by using Instagram responses to the question ‘thoughts on jealousy’. As stated in the podcast jealousy will arise but we want to be able to deal with it in a healthy way so that it doesn’t impact the relationships that are important to us. We then continue to talk about jealousy through a feminist lense and how it manifests through misogynistic terms such as the ’crazy ex-girlfriend’. We hope you enjoy it and as always feel free to reach out!   Links to resources we referenced throughout the episode:   - Amazing Disgrace Podcast Episode on Mental Illness: https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast...   - Misogyny in King Lear: https://repositorium.sdum.uminho.pt/b...    Show Information: The whole idea behind Bad B The Voice Notes is to start having difficult and controversial conversations so that we can learn and grow together as a community.
