    "How Long, LORD???" (Moment of Prayer) **Independence Day Edition**

    I believe it’s important to note that, since the beginning; since the establishment of America on July 4, 1776, slavery (of “black” Africans) existed.  From 1776 until 1865 (when all slaves were deemed free), that’s 89 years that Black people endured the oppression, hatred, and wicked injustices that slavery produces. To date, it has been 158 years, 15 decades, and almost 2 centuries that Black people have endured racial injustice since the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation in 1863, which potentially abolished the slavery of ONLY “some” Black people in these United States of America.  It wasn’t until 1865, two years later that all Black people were deemed free; it happened that year on June 19th, the original Black Freedom Day.

    In 1863, our country’s 16th President; Abraham Lincoln issued a proclamation appointing a National Day of Prayer and Fasting.  He said, “We have forgotten God.  We have forgotten the gracious hand which preserved us in peace and multiplied and enriched and strengthened us; and we have vainly imagined, in the deceitfulness of our hearts, that all these blessings were produced by some superior wisdom and virtue of our own."  Today, let us all turn our hearts back to God, trust Him again!; that He may direct our paths into peace and the way of Love....
