What Is Happening??? - Damisi's Story

For the Season 1 finale, I'm turning the mic on myself. On December 15, 2022, I lost my big brother, Gbolu — and as you can imagine, I haven't been the same since. This episode is part of my unfiltered grief story: the anger at God, the sleepless nights, the medication that saved my life, the friends who showed up when I couldn't ask for help, and what I'd tell you if you're grieving right now too. We cover four things: what my actual grief process looked like, how I survived day to day (therapy, medication, Afrobeats, and yes — some negative coping too), how loss changed who I am, and what to say (and never say) to someone who's grieving. If you've lost someone, I hope this makes you feel less alone. If you love someone who's grieving, I hope this helps you show up better. There's grace for your process too. 🔗 linktr.ee/theresgraceforthat 🔗 Link to Gbolu's funeral

What's Going On? ft. Nike Babatunde & Tosin Adefuye

17 years after losing their father suddenly, sisters Nike Babatunde and Tosin Adefuye sit down with host Damisi (recorded in May 2025) to talk about what grief actually looks like over time — not just in the first year, but nearly two decades later. In this episode, Nike and Tosin open up about the night they found out their dad had passed, the pressure of stepping into new roles overnight, and the guilt, numbness, and delayed grief that showed up years after the funeral. They also share funny, heartfelt stories about their dad's personality — his love of raffles, his frugality, his randomness — reminding us that grief and joy can live in the same conversation. This episode is a reminder that support doesn't have to be complicated-- don't underestimate the impact of reaching out. Whether through a call, a text, a visit, or simply showing up, your support matters more than you may realize. What Was the Purpose? ft. TJ Thomas

What do you do when the person you called for everything — the big wins, the foolishness, the hard days — is suddenly gone? In Episode 7 of There's Grace for That, recorded in April 2024, TJ Thomas opens up about losing his older brother Champ in January 2022, and the long, honest road back to himself. As someone his family has always leaned on, TJ had to figure out how to grieve while still showing up for everyone else — and what it really means to focus on what you can control when everything else feels like it's falling apart. He talks about the six months he spent stuck, the therapy he didn't ask for but desperately needed, the certifications he started chasing, the nephews he's pouring into, and the moment he decided to take his life back. This is a conversation about grief, purpose, growth, and carrying a legacy forward — without pretending it's easy. 🔗 Share feedback or support the podcast: linktr.ee/theresgraceforthat If this episode resonates, please leave a 5-star rating and review — it helps more people find us. 🖤
