Some other podcast reminded me of this one, in ways that made me even more deeply appreciate the work that Andre and Courtney have done, and continue to do in evolving ways. Definitely worth searching for them on the interwebs, for writings and newsletters and what not.
And now, a dad joke: where will the *Boston* NWSL team play its home games this year, other than Pawtucket, Rhode Island?
Foxbor-ugh.
(pronounced Fox-bore... UGH)
(And at the risk of ruining the joke by explaining it, of course New England has to make spellings and pronunciations nonsensical, in this case using "Foxboro" and "Foxborough" interchangeably... and if we replace the final "o" in the latter with a hyphen, as in g-d damn, we get the "ugh" that many BLFC fans feel when shlepping out to a not-so-foxy borough.)
ORIGINAL REVIEW BELOW (as true as ever):
With soccer/football/fútbol taking steps forward then steps backwards, this podcast is more needed than ever. Courtney and Andre bring love, humor, critique, caution, and hope to a segment of sport that can build bridges across multiple social divides.
I heard the call on a recent episode for more dad jokes, nicknames, and tiredness scales, so here’s a three-in-one (I hope): Courtney’s “tired”-ness scale could rate from… wait for it… unicycle to 18-wheeler (1-18). And Andre could be nicknamed some really tall vehicle… maybe a rocket mover (idk how many wheels they have)? Probably y’all can think of a better example of a suitably tall and well-wheeled vehicle. 😅 Keep on rolling, especially in these rocky times. 💜
