Phish Recaps sets the gearshift to the second-to-last show of Fall 94 to celebrate a Tier 1 (great) effort by the Phish from Vermont. A tentpole Antelope in S1 and Tweezer in S2 are the main attractions, but highlights abound. Listen to the full show at phish.in and read the set list and reviews at Phish.net. 10-29-1994 Spartanburg, SC

After a long hiatus, Phish Recaps returns to visit Fall 94 Tour on October 29th, 1994 in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Instead of tightening up in the final show before the band's historic Halloween cover of The Beatles White Album, the band lets loose and gets weird down south. Atypical moments abound, along with slick on-the-fly segues. Listen to the full show at phish.in and read the set list and reviews at Phish.net. We revisit July 8th, 1999 in Virginia Beach, Virginia to celebrate one show that features two unique jams. The episode includes clips from Set 1's momentous Fee>Jam, as well as Stash, in addition to Set 2's Birds of a Feather that organically evolves into If I Only Had a Brain. 9-17-2000 Columbia, Maryland

Fall 2000 delivered the goods more often than not as Phish punctuated the end of the 1.0 era with several great shows, many of which fly under the radar. My favorite gig, 9-17-2000 at MPP, offers a hearty serving of classics in Set 1, and some stretched out, unique jams across Set 2. I include clips from Bathtub Gin, The Curtain With, Rock and Roll, a sublime segue from Theme From the Bottom into Dog Log, Mango Song, and Free in this episode. Listen to the full show at phish.in and read the set list and reviews at Phish.net. As promised in the podcast, here are the eleven data points to back up my "Mango Song equals a great late 1.0 show" theory: 8-16-98 (Lemonwheel), 11-2-98 (Dark Side of the Moon), 11-21-98 (Hampton Comes Alive), 7-24-99 (a top five Summer '99 show), 12-16-99 (Live Phish release), 5-22-00 (Radio City Ghost), 6-9-00 (epic Tweezer), 6-30-00 (part of a huge six show stretch in Summer 2000), 7-15-2000 (a monster S2 wraps Summer 2000), 9-17-00 (the best Fall 2000 show), and 9-27-00 (under-the-radar show with a superb S2). 9-9-1999 Vancouver, Canada

Fall '99 hits the ground running! Phish opens tour in Vancouver, Canada, and 9-9-1999 is my third favorite show of the whole tour. FWIW, I rank 9-12 in Portland first, and 9-14 in Boise second. Pretty impressive for the first week of a tour, eh? Jams from Mozambique, Stash, Ghost, Tweezer, and YEM are included in this episode. 6-16-2000 Osaka, Japan

At the height of late 1.0 popularity, Phish heads to Japan in June 2000 to play clubs instead of arenas, amphitheaters, and swamps. 6-16-2000 in Osaka is my 3rd favorite of the 7 gigs they played, and illustrates the band's focus on quiet interplay, subtlety, and cooperative improvisation. Jams from Limb By Limb, Reba, Runaway Jim, Theme From the Bottom, Slave to the Traffic Light, and Harry Hood are included in this episode. Listen to the full show at phish.in and read the set list and reviews at Phish.net. The other big Japan 2000 jams I mention in this episode are the 6-9-2000 Tweezer, the 6-15-2000 Down With Disease, the 6-10-2000 Down With Disease and Piper, and literally all of 6-14-2000. 7-21-1999 Burgettstown, PA

A sprawling Mike’s Groove dominates one of the best sets of Summer '99. Simple->My Left Toe is incredible, and MLT is an under-the-radar candidate for best jam of '99. Limb By Limb, Taste, Mike’s Song, Simple, My Left Toe, and Weekapaug jams are included in this episode. Listen to the full show at phish.in and read the set list and reviews at Phish.net. 12-15-1999 Washington, D.C.

My 4th favorite show of Winter '99 Tour. Phish is low-key, cohesive, and Big Cypress-ready. DWD, Gin, YEM, Free, and Reba jams are included in this episode. Listen to the full show at phish.in and read the set list and reviews at Phish.net. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
