I love this podcast, Nick! You’re an excellent storyteller, and you’ve done a great job of writing/telling this story in such a way that builds characterization and background in an interesting way. I love the random, stream of consciousness type tangents that Blake goes off on (the way I’m sure any person in his situation would) and how they always end up connecting back to his character and revealing more of the story to the readers. It’s amazing how even though this is literally just an astronaut soliloquizing practically to himself as he hurtles through space, you’ve gotten me completely hooked. I seriously want to know more about Blake Hopper’s past, his relationships, his journey up to this point, what’s going on in his present, and what’s going to happen in his future.
Also, I’ve never before had the privilege of seeing how wide your acting range is. Whenever I’ve watched you perform, it’s always been in a comedic setting. Hearing you perform dramatically is refreshing, exciting, and frankly, you’re amazing at it. Of course, the podcast is sprinkled with your signature sense of clever, dry, and impeccably timed humor, but never in such a way that it detracts from the gravity (or... lack thereof) of the situation. I love the deep, raw emotion we get from Blake. His regrets, his despair, his doubts, his desperation... his hopes. All of these storming under desperate, paper-thin attempts to hold himself together. This internal conflict we hear through your extraordinary emotional dynamic and pacing is truly captivating.
In short, you’re an amazing writer and an amazing actor who has created an amazing podcast. Although I can’t imagine how busy life is for you right now, I, like Blake, am holding on to the firm hope that more episodes of this podcast will be posted soon. I can’t wait to know what happens next! Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful job my friend!
