    Stewards Of God’s Grace

This sermon explores the communal identity of believers as exiles in the world, drawing from 1 Peter 4 to outline three essential marks of Christian community. The central message emphasizes a mindset prepared for rejection, rooted in the union with Christ's suffering and victory over sin. It further highlights the necessity of a forgiving love that covers a multitude of sins, illustrated through the example of Saul's acceptance into the early church. The exposition concludes by affirming that the church is sustained by God's oracles and empowered to serve one another as good stewards of grace. The tone is pastoral and instructional, inviting the congregation to find their true identity and strength in the fellowship of believers rather than in worldly approval.

A King Like All The Nations

This sermon examines the anointing of Saul in 1 Samuel 9, contrasting the flawed, worldly leadership of Saul with the perfect shepherding of Jesus Christ. It highlights how Israel's demand for a king like the nations reflects a fallen human desire for security and control, often leading to the elevation of idols rather than God. While Saul displays early signs of spiritual blindness and worldly ambition, God's providence is evident in using even this flawed vessel to fulfill His sovereign plan for Israel. The message ultimately points to Christ as the true Shepherd who, unlike Saul, offers genuine peace, spiritual freedom, and eternal security through His obedient sacrifice.

    Our Hope In Suffering

This sermon explores the theme of enduring suffering with hope by examining 1 Peter 3:17-22, identifying the atonement and the resurrection of Jesus Christ as the two primary sources of comfort for believers. The text emphasizes that Christ's once-for-all sacrifice for sin removes the guilt and fear associated with unjust persecution, while His ascension to the right hand of God assures believers of their ultimate security and victory over all powers. By drawing parallels between the salvation of Noah's family through the flood and the spiritual salvation found in baptism, the message highlights that believers are kept safe in Christ, even more secure than those in the ark. The sermon concludes by encouraging the audience to look to the finished work of the resurrected Lord, finding strength and peace in the knowledge that their hope is anchored in His eternal sovereignty rather than in their present circumstances.

    A King Like The Nations

The sermon examines the request of Israel for a human king in 1 Samuel 8, arguing that their desire to conform to the nations rather than wait on God's timing constituted a rejection of divine authority. It highlights the theological danger of praying for what one wants rather than what God needs, illustrating that God's answer to such prayers may be a form of chastisement rather than blessing. By contrasting Israel's demand with the submission modeled by Jesus in Gethsemane and the instruction in Romans 12 to be transformed by the renewing of the mind, the message calls believers to pray with humility and trust. The central theme is that true spiritual maturity involves submitting to God's will, even when it differs from personal desires, recognizing that His wisdom surpasses human understanding.

    God Is At Work

This sermon explores how God sustains and expands the church through three primary means: His Word, His leaders, and His people. Drawing from Acts 11, the message highlights how persecution in Jerusalem inadvertently scattered believers to Antioch, where the gospel crossed cultural barriers to reach Gentiles. The text emphasizes the critical role of pastoral leadership, specifically Barnabas and Saul, in nurturing this new community through teaching and encouragement. As a result of this spiritual formation, the Antioch church became a distinct witness to their city, characterized by a countercultural generosity that sent relief to the struggling believers in Judea. The sermon concludes by urging the congregation to respond to God's grace by actively caring for their neighbors and recognizing that God is always at work through ordinary believers.

A Reason For The Hope In You

This sermon explores how Christians can endure suffering without fear by anchoring their lives in the right fear of God, a firm hope in resurrection, and a gentle witness. Drawing from 1 Peter 3, the preacher explains that believers should expect hardship but remain unafraid because Christ has already faced the ultimate trial. The message emphasizes that honoring Christ in the heart produces a hope that sustains believers through loss and persecution. It further argues that apologetics is less about philosophical debate and more about living with a clear conscience and godly character. Ultimately, the sermon encourages the congregation to follow Jesus' example of self-sacrifice, finding courage in the assurance of eternal life.

    Samuel Judges Israel

This sermon explores the four elements of experiencing God's grace as depicted in 1 Samuel 7, beginning with the necessity of genuine repentance and the removal of idols. It highlights the role of Samuel as a mediator who intercedes for Israel and offers a blood sacrifice, pointing forward to the work of Jesus Christ. The text describes God's deliverance of Israel from the Philistines through divine intervention, followed by the establishment of a memorial stone, Ebenezer, as a visible reminder of His mercy. Finally, the sermon concludes with the fruit of this grace, which is sanctification and the enduring peace and rule of God over His people, foreshadowing the ultimate salvation found in Christ.

Pursuing Peace In A Troubled World

The sermon explores the biblical call to pursue peace and unity within the Christian community by cultivating specific virtues such as a unified mind, sympathy, brotherly love, tenderhearted compassion, and humility. Drawing primarily from 1 Peter 3:8-12 and paralleling passages in Philippians 2, the text emphasizes that believers must reject selfish ambition and retaliation when wronged, instead choosing to bless others and trust in God's justice. The central message asserts that true unity is rooted in Christ rather than uniformity of opinion, requiring individuals to value others above themselves and enter into their grief with empathy. By refraining from evil speech and revenge, Christians demonstrate faith in God's watchful care and open ears, finding comfort in the assurance that the Lord protects the righteous while opposing evildoers. Ultimately, the passage encourages believers to live as pilgrims who actively seek peace and do good, resting securely in God's sovereign oversight and grace.
