    K ꓘ 185 - The Vagaries of Spring Training

Keep or Kut - Pete (@PeteBBaseball) and Chad (chadyoung.bsky.social) are back at it and today they are looking at how much things can change over the course of spring training. From keeper decisions to drafts to FAAB, you need to be constantly adjusting when news - especially bad news - breaks in Spring. 2:00 - Zack Wheeler's value has moved quite a bit without much happening, and Chad and Pete aren't aligned on how much it should have moved. Plus, we discuss other injured pitchers and what we plan to do with them. 15:19 - How much did the Jurickson Profar suspension mess up Chad's outfields and what should he do about it? There aren't really any newly-interesting OF. 20:40 - Chad thinks there is real upside in the Rockies outfield, but you may not be able to roster more than one of those upside plays. 28:15 - Even as things are changing, it is much harder to trust the good (breakout performances and velocity gains) than the bad (injuries and suspensions) and that has implications for the depth of the player pool. 31:19 - In weekly lineup leagues, remember you don't need to trust everyone on your roster from day one - you can stash someone as long as you have a lineup you feel good about. 37:40 - Is this a good time to hit the trade market? It's much easier in keeper leagues than redraft. 49:28 - Looking at some intriguing Spring prospects: Spencer Jones, Joshua Baez, and Mick Abel.   Subscribe: Apple Podcasts | Spotify | Stitcher | TuneIn | Google Podcasts | RSS Connect: Twitter | keeporkut@gmail.com | Join PL+ Get PL+ and join our Discord: https://pitcherlist.com/plus Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. K ꓘ 184 - Roto Listener League First Ten Rounds Recap

Keep or Kut - Without Chad, Pete (@PeteBBaseball) breaks down his favorite and least favorite picks of each of the first 10 rounds of our Keep or Kut Listener League 1 roto draft. 2:14 - In the first round, Pete liked the one-pick discount on José Ramírez, but had to rationalize his own Matt Olson pick. 6:41 - Yoshinobu Yamamoto fell to the second round, where Randy Arozarena also got scooped up. 9:58 - While Pete wasn’t super enthused about Will Smith going in the third, Smith’s teammate, Freddie Freeman, he thought was a great pick. 15:34 - In Round 4, Pete goes on a tangent about people trying to predict injuries. Once he settles down, he shares that he loved the Seiya Suzuki pick but questions the Brandon Nimmo pick. 22:53 - More outfielders! Pete liked the Ian Happ pick in Round 5, but questioned his own move of reaching for stolen bases with Dylan Crews. 27:40 - Pete’s favorite pick in Round 6 was Jose Altuve. He mispronounces “Lowe” for the 800th time in this show’s history. He also was not a huge fan of the  Teoscar Hernández pick. 32:10 - Zack Wheeler was Pete’s pick… and his favorite pick of Round 7. Is Ceddanne Rafaela worth it in Round 7? 36:39 - Isaac Paredes is still in Houston! Have faith! Munetaka Murakami has some serious power upside, but is this a little early for him? 41:50 - In Round 9, Pete really liked the Daulton Varsho pick. There were a few picks Pete wasn’t a fan of, but he ended up going with Griffin Jax. 45:05 - Round 10 included names such as Konnor Griffin, Gleyber Torres, and Dennis Santana. K ꓘ 183 - Listener League Draft Recap - Part I

Keep or Kut - Pete (@PeteBBaseball) and Chad Young (@chadyoung) just finished up a keeper league draft with 10 listeners and take some time to go through interesting picks and keeps. 4:13 - Chad and Pete pick 1-2 and the first tough calls of the draft came because Pete was "stuck" with a util-only bat at 1.1. 10:44 - Right off the start, you get guys being taken over ADP - even in the first round. But because of keepers, team structure and more, it's less a reach and more a pick that makes sense. 20:01 - Did Matt Heckman jump too early on Wyatt Langford? And how do we feel about a second round keeper price on Cal Raleigh? 23:10 break 1 23:11 - Third and fourth round keepers are high priced but generally make sense once you have context. 27:34 - George Springer is a great example of old guy value and he comes with real upside even at a high cost. 30:04 - We move into the fifth and sixth rounds, and Chad jumps into a mini-closer run, because he was committed to chasing saves because he kept a first closer. 37:40 - Eugenio Suárez is a solid pick with real upside and a deflated ADP because we don't know where he will land. 39:28 - Moving into the seventh round, we start to see teams reach for big upside and long-term keepers for the first time - and it might be happening earlier this year than last. 52:11 break 2 52:12 - Onto the ninth and tenth rounds where the draft swung back to old boring guys, but there are still a few names - even among the old guys! - with keeper upside. 59:05 - We move into the 11th and 12th rounds, and we're all reaching now, plus maybe we over-drafted closers early?   Subscribe: Apple Podcasts | Spotify | Stitcher | TuneIn | Google Podcasts | RSS Connect: Twitter | keeporkut@gmail.com | Join PL+ Get PL+ and join our Discord: https://pitcherlist.com/plus Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. K ꓘ 181 - Listener Questions

Keep or Kut - Pete (@PeteBBaseball) and Chad Young (@chadyoung) got a slew of listener questions and do their best to get through as many possible. Who has increased their value this off-season? What's up at CI? How do you balance and think about values in different formats? 2:22 - Who are risers in keeper leagues due to the transactions we have already seen this off-season? Willson Contreras is the latest transaction and maybe the biggest gainer. 7:26 - Munetaka Murakami landing in a pretty good spot, for atypical reasons. 14:46 - The Tigers bullpen is supposedly unsettled but it feels kinda settled. 22:37 - Staying in San Diego makes Michael King look at a little better to Chad, while not a ton changes in terms of how we view Shane Baz. 22:08 - Did the Tampa/Pittsburgh/Houston three-way trade hurt everyone's value? Pete says not quite everyone. 32:34 - Some quick thoughts on Adolis Garcia, Edwin Diaz, Robert Suarez, and Raisel Iglesias 36:45 - How is the lockout impacting our long-term planning in keeper and dynasty leagues? 41:06 - Would Pete trade his 21st round Corbin Carroll for a 24th round Cal Raleigh? 46:54 - How are we feeling about the state of CI at the moment? 58:01 - How do we switch our mindset as we move between different formats with different scoring? K ꓘ 179 - Podcast Network Mock Draft Review

Keep or Kut - Pete (@PeteBBaseball) took part in the Pitcher List Podcast Network mock draft in Octobter. This week, Chad Young (@chadyoung) grills Pete (nicely) on his strategy, his picks, what went well, what didn't, and what he learned. Along the way, they try to bring in some keeper league thoughts, as well. 1:40 - What makes a draft like this different from a keeper draft - and what makes this draft particularly unique? 11:09 - Picking 11th, Pete made a tactical choice to wait on pitching, knowing he could get his ace at 14, landing Fernando Tatis, Jr. and Paul Skenes. 17:43 - At the 3/4 turn, Pete went bat-arm again, this time maybe reaching for a bat he loves (Roman Anthony) and taking an unexpected 2nd ace who fell (Yoshinobu Yamamoto) 23:21 - Pitching keeps falling so in the 5th and 6th, Pete ends up with a third ace in Max Fried and fills SS with Bo Bichette. 29:24 - Are we feeling different about Bichette in keepers vs. redraft? 31:37 - In the 7th and 8th, Pete is feeling good about his three-headed ace and is looking for bats to strengthen his offense. He finds Brandon Lowe and Eugenio Suarez at two relatively weak positions. 37:34- Among a run of hitters joining Pete's team, Pete takes his first closer, and opts for Aroldis Chapman over Cade Smith, then follows that up with Spencer Torkelson in the 10th, Michael Harris in the 11th and Teoscar Hernandez in the 12th. 50:48 - Pete jumps back in the pitching market adding Tanner Bibee and Emmet Sheehan over a slew of other pitchers going in this range, before grabbing Kenley Jansen at the end of a closer run. 55:54 - On the other side of the turn after Jansen, Pete grabs Luis Robert, Jr., one of a number of buy-low bounce backs (too many, perhaps) he grabbed in this draft. Then he adds Jonathan Aranda and Mackenzie Gore, who really shouldn't be buy-lows. 1:02:06 - Pete closes out with a high upside play (Munetaka Murakami), his starting C (Drake Baldwin), a couple additional SP (Parker Messick and Brayan Bello), and a guy whose second half was better than you think (Christian Walker). 1:11:44 - A quick look at a few players who went undrafted but could be interesting.
