I came here to listen about the film “I’m Still Here”.
One of the hosts didn’t like the movie but the reasons he gave are not really as a review but as an opinion of someone who clearly didn’t get informed on the subject
The film is about a woman who nobody really knew but who did incredible things in Brazil after immense suffering.
Fact: the military was not after the people
In the favelas because they never believed those could lead a movement of resistance
They were after intellectuals and students, artists and former politicians. Rubens had been exiled, came back and was the only politician (even if he wasn’t one anymore) who was murdered by the government
The director was friends with the kids and the movie is also about his memories
Many other movies were made about other resistance heroes, just get yourself informed
But the most ridiculous opinion given in this podcast was that it would be better if it were about another family, not a privileged white upper middle class, as if the disappearing, torture e murder of anyone is not enough for this host, that then pain is only valid if the family is part of an oppressed group of people
Please, your opinion as a viewer is valid. As a reviewer, is pretty pitiful and lacks curiosity about other cultures and other times. Very poorly stated review
