    Motorsports Mavericks with George Levy

    This week, Alex welcomes perennial favorite (and recently retired) guest George Levy back to the show to talk about his new book,  Motorsports Mavericks, on which he partnered with his dear friend, the late Pete Biro–photographer, editor, and magician extraordinaire. The book focuses on the personalities and world of motor racing in the 1960s, so George and Alex have plenty to talk about.     The McQueen Classics Interview

    This week, Alex interviews none other than Peter Guida of @mcqueens, one of BaT's most beloved and fastest-growing Local Partners and the host of our recent Meet-Up in lovely Lewes, Delaware. The gregarious Guida talks about how he got into cars due to his dad's decades at NASA; the Maryland and SoCal hot rod subcultures; getting shot down on his first approach to BaT; the origins of the McQueen name and logo; being paid to roll back speedometers (in the '80s, don't worry!); and using similar experiences from the bad old days to run things utterly by the book in modern times. Peter also explains his unique strategies to deliver on BaT given his ever-increasing volume of listings, gets deep into the intricacies of the Delaware title system, talks up his idea for the next big thing at BaT, and regales with the various facts he uses to pitch his clientele on the BaT experience.

    Big Milestones, Big Bikes, and a Big Trip to Goodwood

    This week Alex and Tyler embark on a quick rehash of the reaction to our last (B)at the Movies episode; reminisce about the days when you could still wrap your mind around the Star Wars universe; discover Tyler's Corvette origin story (and possibly that of the frame-swapped C2); reveal the BaT staff habit of taking conference calls in various cars parked downstairs at HQ; fuel ethanol-based paranoia; and compare the lot numbers (beat #818 - Ed.) when they started at BaT to the 250,000 we've now surpassed. That of course lends itself to a discussion of the Ferrari 288 GTOthat is set to wrap up next week, one that includes Tyler casually dropping yet another surprise ride-along story. Moving on to the bikes: the pair discuss the preponderance of cool two-wheelers in Europe and several great recent moto sales on BaT, both in the US and abroad, including a host of Vincents and a special Indian.     The One-Year Garage: 1967 (Revisited)

    For episode 182, we go back nearly two years for an encore presentation of our very first One-Year Garage game. These episodes have been very popular since, and we'll have a fresh one coming up soon! Alex, Randy, and Zac Try a New Thing: game time! The One-Year Garage requires them to pick one car from a certain model year for each of five categories: Sports Car, Family Hauler, Truck/4x4, Daily Driver, and Wild Card. They make up the rules as they go, and along the way discuss local trivia about The Graduate; a two-tone requirement for Randy's future car collection; whether it's necessary to remember the names of one's offspring; dieting to fit in your diminutive daily driver; a little-known fact about the '67 Mustang; an episode-long argument [you're both right! -Ed.]; a heated debate about what constitutes a sports car [you're all right! -Ed.]; how said definition relates to the owner's heart health; and the undying question, "how wild is wild?"     B(aT) the Movies: Gone in 60 Seconds (1974 and 2000)

    This week we have a full house for our next movie installment: Beck, Tyler, and Cam join Alex to talk about the joys and pains of 2000's Nic Cage vehicle Gone in 60 Seconds, and the 1974 cult film of the same name that loosely inspired it. The crew discuss how each of them came to the movie (or both, as the case may be); expose their divides of opinion early; wantonly throw around the term "masterpiece"; marvel at the huge budget divide between the old and new films, just one of the many massive differences; lament the painfully cringey car dialogue; discuss fair payment for a job done; differentiate between "nighttime" and "hot time"; and confess to some Eleanor-based confusion. And then, on to the cars. What perspective has 26 years of hindsight given us on which cars got boosted and which didn't? How was no one worried about security in a circa-2000 Ferrari warehouse? Where does the modern move sit in the pantheon of films involving car chases in the LA River. Exactly how bad was CGI in 2000? Our rowdy group of cig-rippin' drug-thievin' miscreants closes by talking about Angelina's hair, other elements that don't hold up, and some of their favorite cars in both movies.
