Proverbs Overview + 1: The Search Engine of the Soul

Are you facing a tough decision or challenge? The Book of Proverbs is God's search engine for your soul, with roughly 800 wise sayings to guide you. Join us as we kick off our Proverbs Bible study with some unique facts about how the book is organized and where it fits into the Bible.  Then we'll dive into Proverbs 1 with its message about resisting peer pressure and how lady wisdom goes from a haunting, ominous presence in chapter 1 to a Proverbs 31 woman by the end of the book.  In our Proverbs 1 Bible study, we cover: [2:59] The Solomon Code: How Hebrew letter-number arithmetic reveals a hidden design behind the 375 core Proverbs.[7:35] The Greater King: How Solomon’s wisdom points directly forward to Jesus, the ultimate model of divine understanding.[15:00] Psalms vs. Proverbs: Why Psalms guides the heart while Proverbs trains the mind for wise living.[21:07] Proverbs 1:7: Why this key verse calls the fear of the Lord the beginning of wisdom.[23:20] Facing Peer Pressure: How to know whether to stand like Daniel or run like Joseph when facing peer pressure.[28:00] A Proverbs 31 Woman: Why Wisdom cries out in the streets in Chapter 1 and becomes a relatable model by Chapter 31. Proverbs Show Notes God’s Wisdom for Navigating Life, by Timothy and Kathy KellerThe Path to Good or Evil Discussion Questions for Proverbs 1 [8:19] Solomon received unmatched wisdom, yet still struggled to live wisely. Where do you notice a gap between knowing what's wise and actually doing it in your life?[21:07] Proverbs 1:7 defines fear of the Lord as revering God so much that His favor becomes your greatest desire. How could framing "fear" as reverent devotion change how you face social pressure or expectations this week?[28:53] In Proverbs 1, Lady Wisdom is a prophetic, alarming voice warning people in the streets. By the end of the book, she is a relatable Proverbs 31 woman who rolls up her sleeves and acts on her faith.
