How Jesus Would Handle Your Hardest Conversation at Work

There's a conversation you've been avoiding. This episode walks through a simple, three-step framework drawn from three hard conversations Jesus had in the Gospels for speaking truth in love without bulldozing people or burying the message. Key takeaways: Avoidance is often neglect wearing the mask of patienceMost leaders default to the "Steamroller" (truth without love) or the "Softener" (love without truth); both failJesus modeled a third way: connect before you correct, name the truth clearly, point toward restorationYou control your faithfulness in the conversation; you don't control the other person's response 🌐 SUBSTACK:Substack ➔ https://substack.com/@vincentream 📲 SOCIAL STUFF:YouTube ➔ https://www.youtube.com/@vincentream X ➔ https://x.com/vincent_ream Facebook ➔ https://www.facebook.com/vincent.a.ream/ Instagram ➔ https://www.instagram.com/vincent.a.ream/ TikTok ➔ https://www.tiktok.com/@vincent.ream Threads ➔ https://www.threads.com/@vincent.a.ream 📨 CONTACT:Email ➔ vincent@vincentream.com 🤝 Consider supporting the show!If this episode is adding value to your walk with Christ, I'd be honored to have you partner with the mission. The One Spiritual Discipline Every Christian Leader Needs

Christian leaders are burning out and mistaking it for faithfulness. Jesus modeled three non-negotiable practices: silence, solitude, and rest. If you're running on fumes while others look to you for direction, this episode is your reset. There are 3 practices Jesus never skipped: silence, solitude, and rest. Skipping these is why exhausted Christian leaders keep mistaking burnout for faithfulness. This episode breaks down a sustainable rhythm for leading from fullness instead of running on fumes, a practical spiritual discipline for the leader who can't afford to stop but knows they can't keep going like this. Key Takeaways: • Why decision fatigue quietly erodes your leadership judgment • What Elijah's story in the cave teaches about where God actually speaks • The critical difference between reacting and responding under pressure • A simple 10-minute morning practice requiring zero prep, no program, and no guilt If leadership principles without spiritual roots have left you drained, this conversation bridges biblical wisdom with real-world stress management, so your faith sustains your leadership, not the other way around. 🌐 SUBSTACK:Substack ➔ https://substack.com/@vincentream 📲 SOCIAL STUFF:YouTube ➔ https://www.youtube.com/@vincentream X ➔ https://x.com/vincent_ream Facebook ➔ https://www.facebook.com/vincent.a.ream/ Instagram ➔ https://www.instagram.com/vincent.a.ream/ TikTok ➔ https://www.tiktok.com/@vincent.ream Threads ➔ https://www.threads.com/@vincent.a.ream 📨 CONTACT:Email ➔ vincent@vincentream.com 🤝 Consider supporting the show!If this episode is adding value to your walk with Christ, I'd be honored to have you partner with the mission. Why You Can't Compartmentalize Prayer and Team Meetings

Your prayer life and your leadership aren't meant to be two separate conversations. In this episode, we look at how Jesus modeled complete integration between prayer and leadership decisions, and give you a simple, three-minute practice to start doing the same this week. Key takeaways: The sacred/secular divide has real biblical roots, but it was never meant to be permanentActs 6 shows leaders need both Spirit and wisdom, not one or the otherJesus moved directly from prayer into leadership decisions with no gapJesus prayed all night before choosing his twelve disciplesTry the Leadership Prayer Inventory: three questions to bring your real decisions into prayer Scripture referenced: Acts 6:3-4, Exodus 19:6, 1 Peter 2:9, Mark 1:35, Mark 1:38, Luke 6:12-13, Luke 22:42 🌐 SUBSTACK:Substack ➔ https://substack.com/@vincentream 📲 SOCIAL STUFF:YouTube ➔ https://www.youtube.com/@vincentream X ➔ https://x.com/vincent_ream Facebook ➔ https://www.facebook.com/vincent.a.ream/ Instagram ➔ https://www.instagram.com/vincent.a.ream/ TikTok ➔ https://www.tiktok.com/@vincent.ream Threads ➔ https://www.threads.com/@vincent.a.ream 📨 CONTACT:Email ➔ vincent@vincentream.com 🤝 Consider supporting the show!If this episode is adding value to your walk with Christ, I'd be honored to have you partner with the mission. Fake Leader Syndrome? Check Your Standards First

Summary: Ever feel like a fake Christian because your faith doesn't look as loud as someone else's? This episode dismantles three counterfeit measures of spiritual maturity and replaces them with what Jesus actually pointed to: obedience, fruit, and faithfulness in small things. Key takeaways: Emotional intensity, dramatic testimonies, and Bible consumption are not the true markers of maturityJesus measured obedience (John 14:15), fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23), and faithfulness in small things (Matthew 25:14-30)A simple nightly practice, the End-of-Day Inventory, helps you track real growth without performance or comparison. Scripture: John 14:15; Galatians 5:22-23; Matthew 25:14-30; 2 Timothy 1:5-6; Matthew 4:1-11; Philippians 4:13; James 2:17. The Biblical Definition of Truth Nobody's Talking About

Pilate asked Jesus, “What is truth?”, then walked away without waiting for an answer. Two thousand years later, our culture is asking the same question, just louder. In this episode of Equipped for Purpose, we explore what the New Testament means by truth, why you can trust the Scriptures that reveal it, and two practical weekly rhythms, one for disciples, one for leaders, that let truth transform you from the inside out. We close with a simple, gracious framework for engaging skepticism without becoming defensive or dismissive. 🌐 SUBSTACK:Substack ➔ https://substack.com/@vincentream 📲 SOCIAL STUFF:YouTube ➔ https://www.youtube.com/@vincentream X ➔ https://x.com/vincent_ream Facebook ➔ https://www.facebook.com/vincent.a.ream/ Instagram ➔ https://www.instagram.com/vincent.a.ream/ TikTok ➔ https://www.tiktok.com/@vincent.ream Threads ➔ https://www.threads.com/@vincent.a.ream 📨 CONTACT:Email ➔ vincent@vincentream.com 🤝 Consider supporting the show!If this episode is adding value to your walk with Christ, I'd be honored to have you partner with the mission. How to Grow as Both a Disciple and a Leader at the Same Time

In this episode, I pull back the curtain on the entire content architecture of Equipped for Purpose. The two interlocking pillars of discipleship and leadership that drive every topic on the show. I break down all six layers underneath those pillars, explain why spiritual formation and leadership development were never meant to be separated, and cast the ultimate vision: not leaders who happen to be Christians, but Christians whose leadership reflects the character of God and the power of the gospel. Key Takeaways: The church tends to produce two incomplete types: theologically sharp but unable to lead, or gifted leaders without spiritual depth. The goal is to be both. The discipleship pillar has three layers: being a disciple, making disciples, and the individual/relational/corporate disciplines that sustain both. The leadership pillar has three layers: developing the leader (self-leadership first), developing the team member, and developing the team.Spiritual formation informs leadership; leadership extends discipleship. Neither stands alone. You cannot lead others well out of a depleted, unexamined inner life; self-leadership is where the leadership pillar begins. The ultimate goal: disciples so deeply rooted in Christ that their leadership looks like His. Welcome to Equipped for Purpose — Deep Discipleship, Christ-Like Leadership, Every Area of Life

This introductory episode lays out the heartbeat of Equipped for Purpose, a show built for followers of Jesus who carry the weight of leadership in their homes, churches, workplaces, and communities. Host Vincent Ream, retired Army soldier, former church staff member, and Biblical and Theological Studies student, shares the one conviction that drives this show: leadership isn't just a skill set, it's an overflow. If the roots aren't healthy, the fruit won't be either. Key Takeaways: Deep discipleship and impactful leadership are not in competition, they are inseparableThe most important leadership development happens in private, in your walk with GodLeadership is not about being impressive; it's about serving people, building trust, and making disciplesFaithful leadership asks three questions: What does the Bible say? What does it mean? How do we live it out this week?Burnout and inauthenticity are symptoms of a disconnect between public role and private formation Scripture References: Matthew 7:17 | Mark 10:43-45 | Ephesians 4:11-12 | Micah 6:8 | Colossians 3:17 Resources & Links: X → https://x.com/vincent_reamYouTube → https://www.youtube.com/@vincentreamSubstack → https://substack.com/@vincentreamFacebook → https://www.facebook.com/vincent.a.ream/ 🌐 SUBSTACK:Substack ➔ https://substack.com/@vincentream 📲 SOCIAL STUFF:YouTube ➔ https://www.youtube.com/@vincentream X ➔ https://x.com/vincent_ream Facebook ➔ https://www.facebook.com/vincent.a.ream/ Instagram ➔ https://www.instagram.com/vincent.a.ream/ TikTok ➔ https://www.tiktok.com/@vincent.ream Threads ➔ https://www.threads.com/@vincent.a.ream 📨 CONTACT:Email ➔ vincent@vincentream.com 🤝 Consider supporting the show!If this episode is adding value to your walk with Christ, I'd be honored to have you partner with the mission. Feedback Is Discipleship: Simple Tools for Christ-Centered Leadership

In this episode, I show how biblical feedback is more than performance management, it’s discipleship and leadership in real time. We root the practice in Ephesians 4:15 (“speak the truth in love”), Galatians 6:1 (gentle restoration), and James 1:19 (quick to listen). Then I walk through simple tools: S-B-I feedback, Ask-Offer-Agree, and feed-forward, and show how to build a feedback culture with weekly rhythms, peer input, and leader modeling. You’ll end with phrases you can use this week and a plan to make feedback timely, clear, and kind. Key Takeaways: Feedback is discipleship. Truth + love aims at formation, not mere compliance.Use simple tools. S-B-I (Situation-Behavior-Impact), Ask-Offer-Agree, and feed-forward make conversations specific and hopeful.Create rhythms, not surprises. Adopt a no-ambush standard, weekly Wins & One Shift in 1:1s, peer triangles, and monthly retros.Leaders go first. Become the easiest person to correct; celebrate progress; link feedback to 30-day goals.NT focus. Ephesians 4:15; James 1:19-20; Hebrews 10:24-25; John 21:15-19; Luke 10:17-24. 🌐 SUBSTACK:Substack ➔ https://substack.com/@vincentream 📲 SOCIAL STUFF:YouTube ➔ https://www.youtube.com/@vincentream X ➔ https://x.com/vincent_ream Facebook ➔ https://www.facebook.com/vincent.a.ream/ Instagram ➔ https://www.instagram.com/vincent.a.ream/ TikTok ➔ https://www.tiktok.com/@vincent.ream Threads ➔ https://www.threads.com/@vincent.a.ream 📨 CONTACT:Email ➔ vincent@vincentream.com 🤝 Consider supporting the show!If this episode is adding value to your walk with Christ, I'd be honored to have you partner with the mission.
