Barnaby Howe and Dapo Agiri

Each week Barney and Dapo listen to a new guest's Vinyl Resting Place Album. Not their favourite album, or the album they think is best, but the one that means the most to them, and that they'll take to the grave. New episodes every Tuesday.

    Vinyl Word - Festivals 2025

In this episode of Vinyl Resting Place, we’re diving headfirst into festival season 2025, breaking down the best lineups, the must-see acts, and all the chaotic joy that comes with live music in the sun (and sometimes rain). From Lost Village and Truck Festival to Jazz Café Festival and Lido, we explore the incredible variety of artists and genres on offer this summer.  We couldn’t help but notice a trend, that some lineups are starting to look the same so we have tried to focus on festivals that are breaking the mould. We discuss the cookie-cutter feel of many festivals this year, question the lack of risks being taken, and talk about what we’d love to see more of whether it’s bolder bookings, better genre representation, or more space for emerging talent. Expect plenty of nostalgia, a few passionate arguments over things that don’t really matter, and a celebration of everything that makes festivals unforgettable, from incredible headline sets to unexpected hidden gems from artists you've never heard of. Don't worry we will be giving Glastonbury its own episosde! Spoon - Transference - Steven Bamidele

In this episode of Vinyl Resting Place, we're joined by soulful singer-songwriter Steven Bamidele as he reflects on a formative album in his musical journey—Spoon’s Transference. Steven shares how the band’s raw sound and songwriting shaped his evolving taste and deepened his appreciation for music. We also talk about the journey of finding artistic identity, especially as a young Black man in the UK, and how those early influences continue to echo in his own work today. Steven was incredibly open about his experiences as an emerging artist, discussing the highs, the challenges, and the realities of carving out space as a creative. It was a real pleasure to have him share his story with such honesty and insight. He’s already having an exciting 2025—having just released his stunning new single “The Fool”, and with a number of amazing live shows on the horizon, it’s clear big things are on the way. Go and give The Fool a spin you will not regret it! - https://youtu.be/U3L2Qgwfdug?si=_xWqoblHiQqP4S3f If you want to see more of Vinyl Resting Place you can find all of our previous episodes here: https://vinylrestingplace.buzzsprout.com/ Check out our TikTok and Insta too why don't ya: @vinylrestingplacepod Host: Dapo Agiri - @dapo_ag Guest: Steven Bamidele -  @StevenBamidele   #stevenbamidele #spoon #transference #vinylrestingplace #musicpodcast #singersongwriter #musicinfluences #indierock #artistjourney #blackbritishartist #musicalidentity #emergingartist #newmusic2025 #thefool #uklivemusic
