    126: Let's Make Some Noise

Celebrating the 10th anniversary of Star Trek Beyond. Beyond is the last theatrical film to date. The film was released on July 22, 2016, to lower-than-normal box office of the three Kelvin Timeline films and also due to "Sequelitis" that plagued the summer of 2016. The film was Paramount's SOLE successful film of the year. The film's underperformance scrapped plans for a planned time-travel sequel. The film had one of the worst marketing campaigns despite it was released to celebrate Star Trek's 50th anniversary. It nevertheless has the strongest story of the three films. In this episode of Twin Cities Trekkies, which marks the finale of the Second Star Trek Film Extravaganza, Wes welcomes Canadian writer and actor Heather Cameron to talk about the film. PODCAST NOTE: Heather makes mentions of being a former writer for TrekSphere. At the time of the recording, the site was off-line; it has since been back online. 124: Resistance is Futile (REUPLOAD)

REUPLOADED WITH NEW MUSIC! Celebrating the 30th anniversary of Star Trek: First Contact. Following the release of Star Trek Generations and how much of a success it was, Paramount told Rick Berman to prepare the next film starring the cast of The Next Generation. Ronald D. Moore and Brannon Braga wanted to bring back the Borg, and Berman wanted a time travel story. They decided to combine the two - and different time periods were bandied about before settling upon the not-too-distant future. Released November 22, 1996 for the 30th anniversary of Star Trek, First Contact is generally considered the best of the TNG era of films. In this episode of Twin Cities Trekkies, which marks the fourth part (of six) of the podcast's Second Star Trek Film Extravaganza, Wes sits down with Synthgirl to talk about the film, other Star Trek related opinions and the design aesthetics of the franchise that were likely changed by the events of this movie. 119: My Friends, We've Come Home (REUPLOAD)

Reuploaded with non-copyrighted music! Celebrating 40 years of Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home. Shortly after Star Trek III: The Search for Spock came out, Paramount wanted to lock down Leonard Nimoy to direct its sequel. They wanted his vision this time unlike the last film, and after an original script that included Eddie Murphy and the Klingon bird-of-prey decloaking at the Super Bowl was scrapped, the film was finally ready to go to be released. Originally planned for a December 12, 1986, release, Paramount moved it to Thanksgiving due to great test screenings. The film made $109 million - the highest grossing film for nearly 25 years for the Star Trek franchise until the 2009 reboot (since surpassed by 2013's Into Darkness). In this episode of Twin Cities Trekkies, Wes kicks off the podcast's Second Star Trek Film Extravaganza with his guest Chris (aka MemeSpaceNine) to talk about The Voyage Home.
