Godzilla and Ultraman have made a huge mark in my life, and it is so great to hear you guys pay proper respect to the mostly unknown hero known as Ultraman. Unlike other podcasts you guys appreciate Ultraman for what it is. You don’t constantly talk about the small mostly unnoticed flaws you bring real subjects to the table and always treat Ultraman how it should be treated. Thank you for making an amazing podcast. PS Can’t wait for the next episode!

Saved by the Belial takes hold of the Ultraman series (from Showa to New Gen Heroes) in a thoughful and analytic manner, not getting bogged down in Ultra-seriousness. Discussion of themes, symbolism, and fresh interpretations abounds, thankfully avoiding simple episode recaps. The gimmick of limiting the conversation on each episode to three minutes (the time span for a traditional Ultraman color timer) keeps the conversation focused and concise, eliminating the rambling and repetitiveness sometimes heard on other pods. While much of the show's humor is American culture-dependent and I don't get it (starting with the title), this won't be an issue for 99% of listeners. Most importantly, the show and its hosts David and Chris reflects the spirit of Ultra: kindness, compassion, working together, and just generally being a good person. Beliarok would find these guys amusing, so it earns my highest recommendation.

Hi! I’m kinda new to Ultraman, I sort of knew of the hero when I was kid because my dad try to introduce me to the character, but at the time I was more of Power Rangers fan. I got interested back on Ultraman, when Netflix released their anime adaptation of the Manga. I liked the show and decided to watch the original Ultraman show too!!(along with starting the new marvel comic series, and the reboot manga. Yeah I kinda went all out haha). It’s also given me a new opportunity to bond with my over something he enjoy as a kid. Out of curiosity I wondered if there were any podcast that could help me get into the fandom and I found y’all! Y’all have been an incredible blessing, I had no clue y’all were Christians too until the end of one of your episodes when y’all explore the theological insights of the show and background of the creator, writers and Christ impact on Japanese culture. I really appreciate this because y’all have given me the opportunity to learn more about Ultraman from a Christian worldview and a place where I can laugh and learn more about Christ too.
