"2024 Our Story" is a weekly podcast hosted by Scripps College students Ellen '24 and Alyssa '24 as they document their college experiences in 2020 and beyond.

    What is SCORE?

    Although this podcast is published through SCORE (Scripps Communities of Resources and Empowerment), we haven’t had a chance to really talk about what the office is. Due to the pandemic and the transition from online learning to being back in-person, the SCORE staff is almost entirely new – this has caused a general lack of knowledge on the origin of SCORE. In our final episode of the 2021-22 school year, we sit down to give an overview of SCORE's history while diving into what it does today and the resources that are available to students through the office.

This week, we sit down with Scarlette McCullough '24, a CMS athlete who tested positive for COVID-19 in the spring 2022 semester and who was placed in isolation due to symptom tracking in the fall 2021 semester. Ellen and Alyssa are joined by Niva Laurent one of the co-leaders of Watu Weusi as they discuss what the CLORG does, how Niva got involved, and more about being a person of color at a PWI.  - Watu Weusi is Scripps’ black student union that functions as a collective to support people of African descent both at Scripps and beyond in endeavors of socio-political, cultural, personal, and spiritual existence and resistance.
