Local Runners Podcast is to celebrate and shine a light on running talent in the North West of England and beyond. We have previous guests from Gold Medal Olympians like Georgia Taylor-Brown, 1500m Gold winner Jake Wightman, to self proclaimed "mid-pack runners" and those who have just finished a couch to 5k. We want to ensure that runners of all abilities are catered for and have a chance to share their stories.

    Dave, Cal, Sean, & Katie have a chat with Leo Loughran from Belle Vue Racers, one of the new ambassadors. We find out about what he is doing, what made him apply to be an ambassador and who he'd take on Desert Island Run... he definitely prepared that answer. International Women's Day was on Sunday so we shared some stories on socials and one has had more traction than others, make sure you check it out. Tameside 5k took place for the 4th time and it was a sell out and a great success, will you sign up to the next one? Race reviews for Trafford 10k, Inter-counties XC, Tameside 5k (of course) and Chester 10k. For training updates, Cal's training is coming together nicely but he was scammed for a race place, Dave has the longest time out running since the age of 16, Katie is ready for a dip week but keeping that mileage up, and Sean is not happy with his Trafford 10k.     Katie, Sean, Cal & Dave chat with two Stockport Harriers who have couple running goals perfected. Steve has PBs of 5K - 20:30, 10k - 42:00, half marathon- 1:32:00, marathon 3:15. Sarah has PBs of 5K 20:35, 10k- 42:00 , half marathon 1:33:00, marathon- 3:20:00. Sarah talks about how she did her first race in 2018 and it went perfectly, then she goes on to run marathons in the majors. Sarah ran Berlin Marathon in 3:23 and she did this off training on a static bike and watching Netflix. Sarah is approaching her 55th birthday and she talks about her mindset change and how she wants to get an England Masters Vest again. Sarah also discusses her issues with gels and how its cause her stomach issues and the need for the toilet. She shares her story of using Imodium. Steve discusses how in 2022, he had a feeling that he would be PBing in all distances. He was very confident at the beginning of races and it worked, but why? Steve has a long dislike for the half in the Tour of Tameside so he tells us what he wants to do with it. Both Steve and Sarah talk about the the Majors and how marathons are their races. Pacing is a big thing, and they get to Pace at the Rome Marathon.
