You’ve heard me interview survivors. This time, I am the survivor being interviewed. My friend and co-host Kardia Joi turns the microphone around and asks me about my own story—where I came from, what I survived, and what healing has looked like along the way. In this conversation, I share parts of my story that I haven’t talked about publicly before. We get into some of the harder particulars, but we also talk about what it has meant to find my voice, wrestle with what happened, heal, and discover a life that is so much bigger than my past. There is something different about sitting in the survivor’s chair rather than the interviewer’s chair. Kardia asks thoughtful questions, gives me room to answer honestly, and walks with me through a conversation that is deeply personal. This time, you get to hear the story behind the woman who usually asks the questions. Join Kardia Joi and me for this special episode of the Only God Rescued Me Podcast.   Kardia Joi https://open.spotify.com/artist/26nfYblvXy3ruxooCv3j8K?si=ntw9hpoWTbiHWrJVo-Gryw Other Kardia Joi Episodes: “Child of My Dreams” https://open.spotify.com/track/5dkrPEPRRMLqIVJHIaDr2F?si=002861aedb66442c   “Discovering Faithfulness” https://open.spotify.com/track/0REcCTwTScMcOlMz1jjU5x?si=7ea53fc5bcb343b3   “I Am Not Alone” https://open.spotify.com/track/5F14AoD7q9w5h6Yzr2df4C?si=4fffc326937a44bf   “I Don’t Know How to Be” https://open.spotify.com/track/6Gf4rn2pMpt9PojHnOu0AM?si=6ab868f92a2f4b0b   "It Isn't Well" https://open.spotify.com/track/5rjjwuUOJu7pMTXWvM8VDM?si=a3f158e7012b4d03   Let's Get Unstuck, with Kardia Joi: https://youtu.be/yYka7ImvLOc   "Life to Me," with Kardia Joi https://open.spotify.com/track/6hA1rnF8ZiWF5BXPYwU0cA?si=2b7642f7f8a54979   "Love That Will Not Leave Me Blind"https://open.spotify.com/track/0oeJmmABDNoHesi3LRYZGn?si=a58d785f4f8942cf   “Meet Me Here” https://open.spotify.com/track/4lPajoxBMeJyigEVJll8bb?si=77b0a19b32d44819   “Pieces” https://open.spotify.com/track/69Os278hLX1OpCV2cKHSkv?si=54da4d0f61354721   “Small” https://open.spotify.com/album/2bUNIUkZjW5SkGMGbHTQE6?si=sTZru3bESf27IWiCjWmtzg   Healing Music with Kardia Joi: https://youtu.be/2jzDXEyZJqU   Only God Rescued Me: Website: https://www.onlygodrescuedme.com/   Contact Lisa: lisa@onlygodrescuedme.com   To help support this podcast: Become an OGRM Support Angel on YouTube ($4.99 per month): https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCXudcfKU-b6NtSQphUOstRA/join   Spotify Subscriber ($2.99 per month): https://creators.spotify.com/pod/profile/lisa-meister/subscribe   PayPal paypal.me/Lisa453 Venmo @lisameister4242 Square https://square.link/u/kQLAozvV Buy Me a Coffee https://buymeacoffee.com/onlygodrescuedme.com

Suicidal Thoughts: What Are They Really Trying to Tell Us? with Dr. Mark McNear

What if we didn't have to be afraid of thoughts ofsuicide? What if, instead of running from them or feeling ashamedof them, we could gently explore what they are trying to tell us? Dr. Mark McNear joins us for a conversation thatsurvivors have needed for a long time. Together, we explore how suicidal thoughts often carry important emotional messages—not messages to act on, but messages to understand. When approached with compassion, curiosity, and truth, these thoughts can reveal deep pain, unmet needs, and burdens that have been carried for far too long. In this episode, Dr. Mark helps us learn how to hold these thoughts gently, untangle what they are communicating, quiet the inner critic, and recognize when we need the support of someone else to help us carry the weight. This is an important conversation for survivors, loved ones, and anyone who wants to better understand the complex reality of suicidal thoughts. Join us as we face this difficult topic head-on, remove the shame surrounding it, and discover that compassion can be a powerful step toward healing. A Chat About Gender Differences with the Anonymous Italian

The Anonymous Italian returns to the Only God RescuedMe Podcast to discuss an important topic: the differences between how men and women often experience healing. In conversations with Anonymous, I became aware that this platform has naturally been geared more toward women. I want to acknowledge that oversight and apologize to the men who may have felt underrepresented. Going forward, Ihope to bring more balance through future interviews, conversations, and memes that speak to the unique experiences of male survivors. In today's episode, we explore what healing can look like for men and why understanding those differences matters to our community. We also discuss why many men are less likely to share their stories—whether publicly or privately—and some of the challenges that contribute to that silence. While Anonymous speaks from his own lived experience, his insights invite all of us to listen with curiosity, compassion, and a willingness to better understand the healing journey of the men among us. The Anonymous Italian, SRA Victor

What if everything you believed about one man's childhood sounded too unbelievable to be true? Today we proudly bring you the story of a male survivor. Male survivor stories have been rare on this channel, making this interview all the more important. In this powerful conversation, Anonymous Italian shares a life that seems almost impossible to comprehend. He grew up in a town where spies, Nazis, Russians, the military, and the mob all intersected. His uncle had connections to Nazis and Operation Paperclip, while his father was a low-ranking member of the mob. Although his Catholic mother came from a loving Italian family, she placed him in an Episcopal church where he says he became part of Project Artichoke. For years, he struggled to understand the fragments of his past. When he finally confronted his mother as an adult about the sexual abuse he endured, her response was one of anger, telling him never to speak of it again. This interview follows Anonymous Italian as he pieces together a life filled with secrets, trauma, and unanswered questions. Whether you're a survivor, a helper, or simply seeking to understand the complexities of trauma, this conversation offers a remarkable look at one man's journey to make sense of the unimaginable.
