You Don't Have to Make Yourself Make Sense

In this episode, I'm reflecting on the pressure to make myself understandable to other people. As someone who is creative, multi-passionate, and moving through a fluid season of work and identity, I've noticed how uncomfortable it can feel when someone asks a simple question like, "What do you do?" There was a time when the answer felt easy. I had a jewelry company, and that identity fit neatly into a box. Now, my life holds many different pieces. The Shoreline, private coaching, writing, creativity, spirituality, YouTube, marketing, and the many intuitive nudges I'm following along the way. This episode explores what it means to outgrow the labels that once made us feel safe. I'm learning that my career is only one part of who I am and that my creativity does not need to become a product or a job in order to have value. I create because expression is part of who I am. I also share how stepping more fully into our individuality can actually create deeper connection. We do not have to flatten ourselves into something more palatable in order to belong. The more honestly we allow our complexity to be seen, the more opportunity we create to connect with others beyond the surface. As I move through another intense in-between season, I'm noticing sparks of creativity returning even alongside difficulty. I'm learning to look for the glimmers, the stars, the small moments of joy, and the reminders that darkness can also be fertile ground for something new. This is an invitation to release the need to make yourself make sense. To let old versions of you go with gratitude, to trust the shape you are becoming, and to remember that you do not need to have a final form yet.   Kim Kogane is a writer and intuitive guide helping you navigate the tender in-between seasons of life. Letting the Current Carry You

In this episode, I'm returning after an unexpected break and reflecting on what these last few weeks have taught me about rest, control, and letting go. My body reached a point where I needed to stop pushing and pause, even though part of me wanted to keep moving forward. I share how busyness and overthinking can pull me into trying to control outcomes through productivity. When life feels uncertain, my instinct is often to do more, plan more, and try to force clarity. But lately, I've been reminded of a different image: swimming upstream against the current versus turning over and allowing yourself to float. This episode explores what letting go means to me now. It is not about giving up or becoming passive. It is about releasing the need for a specific outcome and trusting that I am supported by my intuition, my guides, the universe, and the people and signs that remind me I am not navigating life alone. I also reflect on how grief has shaped my relationship with control, especially around the day my dad passed. That experience taught me how painful uncertainty can be and how deeply the human part of me wants to protect against ever feeling that powerless again. As I sit with that, I'm also reconnecting with my spirituality and asking what it would look like to let more of my true self be visible. I feel called to share not only the practical parts of who I am, but also my belief in intuition, magic, purpose, signs, and the things that cannot always be neatly explained. This is an invitation to notice where you might be swimming upstream in your own life. What would happen if you loosened your grip on the outcome? What if the next step was not to try harder, but to trust more deeply that you are being carried toward what is meant for you?   Kim Kogane is a writer and intuitive guide helping you navigate the tender in-between seasons of life. Coming Back to the Basics - Self-Love Is Your Anchor During Difficult Times

In this episode, I'm sharing what it feels like to move through a season where grief, exhaustion, and a long to-do list all seem to arrive at once. The fog is still here, and instead of pretending I've handled everything perfectly, I'm reflecting on what actually helps me find my footing when life feels heavy and out of balance. I share how a simple Pilates session reminded me how powerful it can be to return to the body. After spending so much time in my thoughts and rushing from one thing to the next, intentional movement helped me feel lighter, more present, and a little more connected to myself. This episode also explores the importance of nourishment and the ways we can unintentionally neglect our basic needs when everything feels urgent. Meals, rest, movement, and journaling can start to feel optional when deadlines are loud, but those quiet practices are often what give us the capacity to meet everything else. I reflect on the tendency to search for answers outside of ourselves during periods of transition. Sometimes clarity does not come from trying harder or moving faster. Sometimes it comes from allowing the fog to exist while turning down the noise around us and listening more closely to the wisdom of our bodies, intuition, and inner landscape. I also share how journaling has become a form of thought hygiene for me. It helps clear the mental clutter in the morning and gives me space at night to notice what went well and let the goodness of the day actually sink in. This is an invitation to return to what is simple and essential. To treat your needs as important, even when they do not come with a deadline. And when life feels especially noisy, to remember that you do not have to effort your way out of the fog. Sometimes the most supportive thing you can do is tend gently to what is already here. This episode is for you if: You're on a grief journey and are looking for somatic and intuitive tools to help you navigate the grief You're feeling alone in the mess of life and want some comfort and support You're out of balance or out of alignment and want to dive into what can be helpful to find grounding again You're in a season of being busy and want permission to slow down and connect to the present moment You're ready to let go of unnecessary responsibilities and step into what feels most supportive for you Resources and Links:  Explore The Shoreline Private Sessions to find aligned support as you navigate a significant life transition Sign up to receive notes from the Shoreline Watch my YouTube Channel to get a peek into my creative life and what I'm working on  Use this FREE intention setting worksheet to find aligned support as you navigate a significant life transition Read this blog post to discover the easiest way to make your day better when life feels overwhelming Listen to this visualization when you want to invite more peace and calm into your life and use a somatic practice to come back to your body and the present moment Related Episodes:  An Invitation To Softness: When Grief Takes You By Surprise Permission To Be Where You Are - Learning To Embrace All Parts Of The Self With Compassion A Life With Room To Breathe - Letting Go Of Being "Busy" And Embracing A Slower Pace When Life Pulls You Toward A New Shore - Beginning Again And Exploring The In-Between Space After An Unexpected Life Transition –– ✦ Kim Kogane is a writer and intuitive guide helping you navigate the tender in-between seasons of life. An Invitation to Softness - When Grief Catches You By Surprise

In this episode, I'm sharing from the middle of a difficult wave of grief. After feeling like I had begun to understand grief as a companion, I was surprised by how deeply it returned and how quickly it changed the way I moved through my days. I reflect on the pressure I sometimes place on myself to show that I am healing, moving forward, or somehow overcoming grief. But grief is not linear, and there is no finish line I need to reach. I am still getting to know this part of myself, and I am learning to meet it with more compassion instead of expectation. This episode also explores how isolating grief can feel when the people around us instinctively want to fix what we are experiencing. Often, what I need most is not advice or a solution. I need someone willing to listen, witness what is true, and trust that my grief does not need to be repaired. I share what it feels like to be a deep feeler in a world that does not always make room for depth, and how I am learning to let the part of me that wants to help and make everything meaningful step aside sometimes so other parts of me can speak. Even within the heaviness, there are still moments of nourishment and connection. A long walk with Cauchy in the middle of the day reminded me that we are not productivity machines, and that the moments we remember most are often the ones where we gave ourselves permission to simply be present. This is an invitation to softness, gentleness, and slowness. To take what you need. To honor the transitions between where you have been and where you are going. And to trust that you do not have to understand everything you are carrying in order to hold it with care. This episode is for you if: You're on a grief journey and are looking for comfort and understanding in your experience You're in need of a reminder to be compassionate with yourself and to release the expectations you place on yourself You're in a season of life that requires a little more softness and gentle energy You're navigating a transition or are starting over and are getting to know yourself all over again You're trying to understand how to best support someone who is on a grief journey Resources and Links:  Explore The Shoreline Private Sessions to find aligned support as you navigate a significant life transition Sign up to receive notes from the Shoreline Watch my YouTube Channel to get a peek into my creative life and what I'm working on  Use this FREE intention setting worksheet to find aligned support as you navigate a significant life transition Read this blog post to discover the easiest way to make your day better when life feels overwhelming Listen to this visualization when you want to invite more peace and calm into your life and use a somatic practice to come back to your body and the present moment Related Episodes:  Permission To Be Where You Are - Learning To Embrace All Parts Of The Self With Compassion Connection In The Loudest Places - Exploring The Complexity Of Our Emotional Landscape While Grieving Listening For What Wants To Emerge - Letting Go Of Old Timelines And Honoring Where You're At Right Now When Life Pulls You Toward A New Shore - Beginning Again And Exploring The In-Between Space After An Unexpected Life Transition –– ✦ Kim Kogane is a writer and intuitive guide helping you navigate the tender in-between seasons of life. Playing to Win - When You Take Control Of Your Life Instead Of Letting Your Life Control You

In this episode, I'm reflecting on a mindset shift inspired by the Seattle Seahawks and the difference between playing not to lose and playing to win. As I move into my second football season without my dad, I've been thinking about how that same idea applies to grief, joy, and the way I move through my days. For a long time, especially during grief, my focus has been on avoiding a bad day. I've tried to create control through routines, lists, and getting as much done as possible. But somewhere along the way, even the things that nourish me, like journaling or taking a long walk with Cauchy, started becoming tasks instead of experiences. This episode explores what it might look like to shift from simply getting through the day to asking, how can I make today the best day it can be? Not by avoiding difficulty or pretending hard emotions are not there, but by allowing joy, magic, presence, and unexpected goodness to exist alongside them. I also share about a yearly tarot ritual that suddenly felt disconnected this year because I had turned it into another item on my to-do list. That experience became a reminder that the practices we choose to support ourselves do not need rigid rules. We can return to them differently, change our perspective, and let intuition lead. This is an invitation to notice where you may be moving through life defensively. Where have meaningful rituals become obligations? Where are you trying not to lose instead of allowing yourself to fully participate in the experience? Maybe the shift is as simple as moving from "I have to" to "I get to" and remembering that the day in front of you has never happened before. This episode is for you if: You're ready to step into a leadership position and be more visible in your life You're curious about starting a podcast and/or a YouTube channel and want to get a peek behind the scenes You crave meaningful connections and relationships but find it hard to allow yourself to be fully seen You feel like you've been in hiding and are ready to step out into the light You're a creative who wants to share more of your gifts but aren't sure where to begin Resources and Links:  Explore The Shoreline Private Sessions to find aligned support as you navigate a significant life transition Sign up to receive notes from the Shoreline Use this FREE intention setting worksheet to help you find your north star Read this blog post to discover the easiest way to make your day better Listen to this visualization when you want to tap into daydream energy and invite more peace and calm into your life Related Episodes:   When Presence Becomes the North Star - Looking To Connection When The Journey Feels Lonely Permission To Be Where You Are - Learning To Embrace All Parts Of The Self With Compassion The Season of Refinement - Letting Go Of Past Identities To Embrace What's Ahead When Life Pulls You Toward A New Shore - Beginning Again And Exploring The In-Between Space After An Unexpected Life Transition –– ✦ Kim Kogane is a writer and intuitive guide helping you navigate the tender in-between seasons of life. The Courage to Be Seen - Allowing Your Whole Self To Be Received

In this episode, I'm reflecting on what it means to be visible and how my relationship with being seen is beginning to change. For a long time, sharing parts of myself could feel like asking something of other people. Now, I'm starting to see visibility as an opportunity for connection, presence, and meaningful impact. I share about a new opportunity to write the newsletter for my local yarn shop and what it felt like to become more visible within that community through WIP Wednesday. Even though being seen brought up discomfort and old fears, it also gave me the opportunity to receive the support that was already there and recognize how aligned this new role feels. This episode explores the idea that our presence can be meaningful without needing to control how it is received. We do not always have to know exactly how our work will help someone. Sometimes our role is simply to show up, share what feels true, and trust that the right people will find something in it. I'm also finally sharing something I've been creating behind the scenes: a new YouTube channel called From the Shoreline. It will be a lighter, more creative glimpse into my life, where I'll share knitting projects, writing updates, the journey of working on my novel, and more of the everyday creative process. Starting something new feels exciting, playful, uncomfortable, and a little scary all at once. But it also feels deeply aligned with my North Star of creating meaningful ways for us to spend time together. This is an invitation to consider what visibility might mean for you. What if being seen does not have to be about performance or approval? What if your presence, your creativity, and your willingness to share yourself are already enough to create connection? This episode is for you if: You're ready to step into a leadership position and be more visible in your life You're curious about starting a podcast and/or a YouTube channel and want to get a peek behind the scenes You crave meaningful connections and relationships but find it hard to allow yourself to be fully seen You feel like you've been in hiding and are ready to step out into the light You're a creative who wants to share more of your gifts but aren't sure where to begin Resources and Links:  Explore The Shoreline Private Sessions to find aligned support as you navigate a significant life transition Sign up to receive notes from the Shoreline Use this FREE intention setting worksheet to help you find your north star Read this blog post to discover simple ways to bring joy and whimsy back into your life Listen to this visualization when you want to tap into daydream energy and invite more peace and calm into your life Related Episodes:   The Itchy Sweater Season - Change Can Be Uncomfortable But Discomfort Doesn't Last Forever Permission To Be Where You Are - Learning To Embrace All Parts Of The Self With Compassion Living A Creative Life Offline And Online - Why Community And Authentic Connection Are A Core Part Of The Human Experience When Life Pulls You Toward A New Shore - Beginning Again And Exploring The In-Between Space After An Unexpected Life Transition –– ✦ Kim Kogane is a writer and intuitive guide helping you navigate the tender in-between seasons of life. The Itchy Sweater Season - Change Can Be Uncomfortable, But Discomfort Doesn't Last Forever

In this episode, I'm reflecting on the uncomfortable part of change where staying where you are no longer feels right, but stepping into what is next does not feel natural yet either. It is the strange middle ground of becoming, where everything can feel a little itchy, clunky, and out of alignment. I share how I experienced this when I first began the Shoreline. Even though I knew podcasting was part of my path, recording felt uncomfortable and self-conscious for a long time. I had to choose the unfamiliar discomfort of something new over the familiar discomfort of staying where I was. Over time, what once felt awkward became one of the most joyful parts of my week. Lately, I've found myself back in another itchy sweater season. After feeling lighter and energized, things suddenly became heavy again. Grief has felt more like a fog than an all-consuming sadness, and I've been navigating the frustration of having ideas and desires without always having the energy to bring them to life. This episode explores how discomfort can actually bring clarity. When everything feels a little off, the things that truly belong to us become easier to recognize. Like finally changing out of an itchy sweater and into your favorite pajamas, alignment can feel especially obvious after a season of discomfort. I also share my desire to return to journaling as a daily ritual and reconnect with a part of myself that feels deeply familiar. Through morning pages and an evening practice of reflecting on what went well, what is still taking up mental space, and what I want to call into my life, I'm creating small anchors as I continue moving through this next phase of becoming. This is an invitation to notice what feels like an itchy sweater in your own life. What has become uncomfortable to keep carrying? And what brings that unmistakable feeling of relief when you move toward it? This episode is for you if: You're on the verge of a new chapter and navigating the discomfort that comes from growth, evolution, and expansion You're curious about starting a podcast and want to know more about what happens behind the scenes You're navigating an uncomfortable seasons of life where nothing feels aligned and you aren't sure how to move forward You're ready to go after what you want and create your dream life You're feeling stuck and aren't sure how to move forward Resources and Links:  Explore The Shoreline Private Sessions to find aligned support as you navigate a significant life transition Sign up to receive notes from the Shoreline Use this FREE intention setting worksheet to help you find your north star Read this blog post to discover simple ways to bring joy and whimsy back into your life Listen to this visualization when you want to tap into daydream energy and invite more peace and calm into your life Related Episodes:   Rooting Into What's Next- Embracing A New Identity And New Life After Loss And Transition When Flow Falters - How To Navigate Old Patterns When They Reappear Listening For What Wants To Emerge - Letting Go Of Old Timelines And Honoring Where You're At Right Now When Life Pulls You Toward A New Shore - Beginning Again And Exploring The In-Between Space After An Unexpected Life Transition –– ✦ Kim Kogane is a writer and intuitive guide helping you navigate the tender in-between seasons of life. When Presence Becomes the North Star - Looking To Connection When The Journey Feels Lonely

In this episode, I'm reflecting on the idea of a North Star and how the value that has guided me for most of my life is beginning to change. For as long as I can remember, being helpful has been deeply important to me. I have wanted to support others, make things easier, and be someone people could turn to. Lately, I've started to notice that helping does not always need to mean fixing, removing pain, or offering solutions. Sometimes what matters most is simply being present, listening, and creating meaningful ways to spend time together. I share how this shift is changing the way I think about my work. One-on-one coaching will continue to be part of what I do, but I am also feeling called to create connection through this podcast, writing, future courses, and other experiences that allow us to meet across time and space. This episode also explores the vulnerability of allowing creative work to be witnessed. My role is not to decide exactly how something should be received or prove why it is valuable. My role is to create, share, and trust that the work will find the people it is meant for. Grief has taught me that we do not always need advice or answers when we are moving through something difficult. Sometimes we only need someone willing to sit beside us. Your journey is uniquely yours, but you do not have to navigate it without companionship. As the energy begins to feel lighter, I'm also looking ahead toward fall, new routines, fresh ideas, and a renewed sense of possibility. For the first time in a long while, thinking about the future feels hopeful, creative, and full of room to explore. This episode is for you if: You're feeling alone on your journey and crave a companion or someone to witness what you're going through You're on a grief journey and want to explore how that's shaping you You're navigating a big life transition and are exploring who you're becoming and what you'd like to create You're a creative who's ready to step into the spotlight and share your work You're exploring new ways of being and ready to embrace new ideas and energy shifts Resources and Links:  Explore The Shoreline Private Sessions to find aligned support as you navigate a significant life transition Sign up to receive notes from the Shoreline Use this FREE intention setting worksheet to help you find your north star Read this blog post to learn more about the power of Human Design Listen to this visualization when you want to tap into daydream energy and invite more peace and calm into your life Related Episodes:  Letting The Magic In - Embracing Small Joys And Allowing Yourself To Just Be Letting The Water Carry You - Shifting From Exploring Possibilities To Creating A New Reality Stepping Into Your Intuitive Gifts Embracing LIfe As An Artist And Creative Soul When Life Pulls You Toward A New Shore - Beginning Again And Exploring The In-Between Space After An Unexpected Life Transition –– ✦ Kim Kogane is a writer and intuitive guide helping you navigate the tender in-between seasons of life.
