SNOOT Pod: David Foster Wallace's "Authority & American Usage"

In this episode, Shannon and I talk about David Foster Wallace's essay on grammar, authority, and dictionaries––from the perspective of two high school English teachers. Find out wether or not you are a prescriptive grammarian, or descriptive grammarian (and what those two terms mean), and consider the true function of "academic" language. Listen in on the confessions of two ex-(ish)SNOOTS, and join us as we tackle the question: Is grammar about being correct, or being clear? (And maybe "correct" means something entirely different from what you once thought.) Enjoy the podcast!
