The Weird

An actual play with excellent sound design, music, and storytelling that borders on scripted audio fiction. With lovable, multi-faceted characters, skilled GMing, and an easy-to-follow MOTW-like system, The Weird is quality on every level. Awesome queer rep and a good balance of humor and horror. I'm a relative newbie to TTRPG podcasts, but this one grabbed me right away.

Speaking as an individual that’s never gotten into roll-based games, this is new territory for me to explore - the narrative this group has created is gripping and interesting on it’s own, but they’ve created a whole new game for it’s main characters to make decisions. Since they’re adding that element of chance, it really makes you feel as if the story can go any number of ways depending on outcomes from those dice rolls. All in all this group has made something truly special, and it’s worth checking out!

I'm doing my best to get all my friends into this so we can joke about it. You'll enjoy the story even if you're not super familiar with TTRPGs. Get ready for some really Weird situations and characters, all appropriately mysterious and spooky and hilariously ooky. And if you do love tabletop games - join their Patron and get the game!
