Episode 58: Conquer your fears!

“Fiddlin' Fred” Mayer, PhD is a string teacher, ensemble director, instrument designer and builder, and active musical performer. On 5-string viola, an instrument he designed and manufactured, Fred has played with too many bands to mention, none of which anyone has heard of, nor cares about. The only thing that matters is that his music lifts the spirits of those within earshot.
Fred is also an organic farmer, running his own farm operation from 2006-2017 and in addition to his musical activities, has worked at numerous food and medicine producing grows. Lately he has parlayed his organic farming skills to become a garden coach; helping new homesteaders establish their gardens, green-up their thumbs, and show home gardeners how to boost their backyard yields. He maintains his personal production and 'laboratory' gardens at his home in the Ozark Mountains of NW Arkansas.

15:34   If we're not learning new things, if we're not expanding our own abilities and our own vistas, and in terms of where we want to go, then, then we're not growing. And the very definition of not growing is dying.

20:19   Meditation and mindfulness and really incorporating that into a daily practice, I think it really has helped me flex my compassion muscle and my ability to see things from somebody else's perspective a lot faster than I used to is probably the biggest reward. And, and it's also shown me that often we're really wrong with our assumptions.

Episode 54: Another angle to making money online through web design.

Chris is a self-taught UX/web designer that works for a tech startup in Arizona. BUT, he didn’t start there.

For 13 years he was basically a full-time musician. While he loved his full-time job it became clear that he would need to make more money to support his 3 daughters as a single dad.

7:17   We have stuck to this middle area that seems to be this like forgotten, hidden class within the mobile homes. The single unit with the dirt. So it is a real estate transaction, buying the home and land together.

14:31   It's still going to have cash flow. Not as much as the older ones, but it's my lotto ticket. I go to it because it's in the path of progress and I'm hoping a developer one day is gonna offer me multiple hundreds of thousands of dollars for just the land and build a three quarter million dollar house. But if they don't, I have cash flow!

36:43   Take action and ask for help. Seasoned investors wanna help people that are actually taking action and not just talking about it, and talking about it, and talking about it. Take some action! And then next time you go back and talk to a whoever you're asking advice from say, ‘Hey, I did this and this and this, but I'm lost here’. And I believe you get a lot more help that way.
