    188. The World in Turmoil - Westcliffe & 1LoveHTX

Is the world falling apart, or are we finally paying attention? In this episode of OneLoveHTX, Daniel and Duffy take a deep dive into the chaos, controversy, fear, and uncertainty happening around the world right now. From global conflict, political division, conspiracy theories, the death of Charlie Kirk, 9/11 and the Twin Towers, the rise and movement of Islam, Christianity, religious extremism, world events, and the questions dominating social media and the news, we ask a simple question: What are we supposed to make of all of this? With so much information—and misinformation—coming at us every day, how do we know what's actually true? What should Christians think about conspiracy theories? How should believers respond to disturbing world events? Where does legitimate concern end and fear or speculation begin? And perhaps the most important question: What is our responsibility as Christians and followers of Jesus when the world is in turmoil? Are we supposed to live in fear? Fight everyone we disagree with? Try to predict what's coming next? Or are we called to something completely different? We'll talk about faith, fear, truth, deception, prophecy, the Bible, Jesus, Christianity, Islam, 9/11, Charlie Kirk, conspiracy theories, current events, and the state of the world—but ultimately bring the conversation back to the foundation of our faith: Who is Jesus, what did He actually teach us, and how should we live when everything around us seems uncertain? This isn't about pretending we have every answer. It's about asking difficult questions, challenging assumptions, separating fact from speculation, and having the conversations many people are afraid to have. Because when the world is in turmoil, maybe the question isn't “What is the world going to do?” Maybe it's: “What are WE going to do?” 🔥 REAL. RAW. UNSCRIPTED. 😂 FUNNY. SERIOUS. SOMETIMES UNCOMFORTABLE. ✝️ AND ALWAYS BRINGING IT BACK TO JESUS. Support the show Westcliffe is a ministry without walls for people without Jesus. 187. Chasing the Dumpster Fire - Westcliffe & 1LoveHTX

Why are we so attracted to chaos, drama, and toxic relationships—even when we say we desperately want peace? In this episode of the 1LoveHTX Podcast, Daniel and Duffy take a brutally honest, funny, and sometimes uncomfortable look at why people are attracted to toxic men and women, unhealthy relationships, emotional chaos, and the “bad boy/bad girl” lifestyle. Why can the safe, healthy, good man or good woman sometimes feel… well, boring? Is culture actually teaching us to crave dysfunction? We talk about toxic relationships, relationship patterns, attraction, dating, culture, emotional baggage, and how chaos can become so familiar that peace starts feeling uncomfortable. But then we introduce a character that doesn't get nearly enough attention: The Righteous Man or Woman. Not someone who thinks they're better than everyone else. Not perfect. Not judgmental. We're talking about a person with character, morality, integrity, conviction, healthy boundaries, and a foundation rooted in God. Why do we assume people with strong values and a relationship with God have to be boring? Are righteous men and women actually out there? Where do you find them? And perhaps the harder question: Are WE becoming the kind of person we're looking for? Because before we diagnose everyone else's dumpster fire, maybe we should check our own. 🔥 Are you attracted to chaos? 🔥 Have you confused drama with passion? 🔥 Do toxic relationships feel more exciting than healthy ones? 🔥 Does peace make you uncomfortable? 🔥 How does your past affect your relationships? 🔥 How do you know if YOU are the dumpster fire? 🔥 And what does God have to do with breaking the cycle? This conversation goes deep into relationships, toxic attraction, healthy relationships, Christian values, morality, dating, emotional healing, culture, faith, and what it really means to live with a God-centered foundation. It's funny. It's serious. It's probably going to step on a few toes. So grab a lawn chair, bring the marshmallows, and join us around the dumpster fire. Because sometimes the problem isn't that we're surrounded by dumpster fires. Sometimes we're the ones holding the gas can. 🔥😂 Support the show Westcliffe is a ministry without walls for people without Jesus. 185. Hodgepodge Religion - Westcliffe & 1LoveHTX

Ever notice how people can take a little bit of Jesus, a sprinkle of self-help, a dash of social media wisdom, two scoops of personal preference, and somehow end up with a belief system that looks nothing like the Bible? In this episode, Daniel and Duffy dive into the fascinating (and sometimes hilarious) world of Hodge Podge Religion—the tendency to reshape faith into something that fits our comfort zones, lifestyles, opinions, and desires. We explore how humanity has always had a knack for mixing beliefs together, keeping the parts we like and quietly leaving the rest on the cutting room floor. From ancient idols to modern influencers, from cultural traditions to personal truth, we unpack how easy it is to create a custom-made faith that feels good, sounds spiritual, and yet slowly drifts away from God's design. Along the way, we'll laugh at some of the strange ways people justify almost anything, poke fun at ourselves (because we've all done it), and wrestle with some serious questions: Are we following God, or a version of God we've created? When does adapting culture become compromising truth? Why are we so tempted to make faith easier, softer, and more convenient? What happens when feelings become the foundation instead of Scripture? This conversation is lighthearted, honest, and full of the kind of real talk that challenges all of us to examine what we believe—and why we believe it. Because at some point, every one of us has to answer a difficult question: Do we want a God who agrees with us... or a God who transforms us? Join us for an episode that's equal parts laughter, conviction, and self-reflection as we explore the dangers of building a faith buffet instead of embracing the whole meal God has prepared. 183. The Sins of the Father Suck! - Westcliffe & 1LoveHTX

Ever blamed your parents for your problems? Your grandparents? That weird uncle everyone pretends doesn't exist? Yeah... this one's for you. In this episode, Daniel and Duffy tackle one of the most misunderstood—and honestly, one of the most intimidating—verses in the Bible: Deuteronomy 5:9. Does God really punish children for the sins of their parents? Have we been teaching this passage correctly... or have we completely missed what God was actually saying? The conversation starts with a verse that has confused people for generations and ends with some eye-opening discoveries that led to genuine breakthroughs for Daniel right there on the show. Together, they unpack what happens when generations choose to follow God... and what happens when they don't. Is this about a curse? Consequences? Choice? Mercy? Maybe all of the above—but probably not in the way you've always heard. There are laughs, a few "Wait... WHAT?!" moments, and some hard truths that could completely change the way you view your family history, your future, and the character of God. If you've ever wondered whether you're doomed to repeat the mistakes of those who came before you, or if you've heard this verse quoted without ever digging into what it actually means, this episode may be exactly what you need. Because let's be honest... The sins of the father suck... but the story doesn't have to end there. Support the show Westcliffe is a ministry without walls for people without Jesus. 180. A Buddhist, an Indian, and a Christian Walk Into a Bar - Westcliffe & 1LoveHTX

In this episode, Daniel and Duffy jump headfirst into one of those conversations that can make family dinners, holiday gatherings, and Facebook comment sections a little... interesting. What happens when your friends, neighbors, coworkers, or favorite fishing buddy follow a different religion than you do? Can you still be close friends? Are Christians responsible for someone else's salvation? And how do you show the love of Jesus without becoming that guy everyone avoids at the barbecue? Then Daniel pulls out some of the biggest questions he hears from people all the time: "What about those who grew up in completely different cultures?" "What about Native Americans, Muslims, Buddhists, and people who never heard the Gospel?" "What would Jesus actually do in these situations?" Yep... the guys aren't tiptoeing around the shallow end. They're cannonballing straight into the deep waters. But don't worry—while the questions are serious, the conversation is packed with humor, honesty, and the kind of real talk that makes you think long after the episode ends. Expect laughs, challenging perspectives, a few moments that might make you squirm, and plenty of insight as Daniel and Duffy wrestle with some of life's biggest spiritual questions. Grab your coffee, buckle up, and join us for a conversation that's equal parts thought-provoking, faith-building, and surprisingly funny. This one might challenge what you think... and that's exactly why you should listen. 🎙️🔥 Support the show Westcliffe is a ministry without walls for people without Jesus.
