Why You Need to Stop Buying 100% of Your Food From the Grocery Store

Do you feel trapped by skyrocketing prices and declining quality at your local grocery store? You aren't alone. In this episode, host Kalyna Miletic breaks down the perfectionism trap of conscious consumerism and introduces a grace-filled, practical framework for evaluating where your food actually comes from.Instead of treating self-sufficiency as an all-or-nothing game, you will learn how to build an intentional sourcing strategy that respects your current time, budget, and energy limitations. Key Frameworks & Sourcing Spectrums The Sourcing Spectrum: Modern sustainable living isn't binary. Consumers typically fall along a wide gradient. The goal of this episode is to help you intentionally decide where you want to anchor yourself:The "Most-Used" Audit: To avoid overwhelm, do not try to switch your entire pantry at once. Start with your most heavily consumed products first. If your family drinks three gallons of milk a week, focus your energy on finding a high-quality local dairy farm before worrying about niche spices.Budget vs. Priority Alignment: Your sourcing shouldn't break your bank. Audit your current financial realities and shift your habits only as your budget and priorities allow. Moving even 5% or 10% of your budget toward a local farmer is a massive victory for your health and the local economy.Drop the Guilt: You do not need to be a 100% self-sustaining homesteader to make a meaningful impact.Know Your Farmer: Start small by visiting a local farmers' market or looking into regional CSAs (Community Supported Agriculture). Ask questions and build connections.Pick Your One Thing: Identify the single highest-volume item in your kitchen this week and research one alternative, localized way to source it. Actionable Takeaways From This Episode Drop the Guilt: You do not need to be a 100% self-sustaining homesteader to make a meaningful impact.Know Your Farmer: Start small by visiting a local farmers' market or looking into regional CSAs (Community Supported Agriculture). Addicted to the Yearning: Why Being Present Feels Unsafe to Your Nervous System

In this episode, Kalyna uncovers the root cause of burnout: a dysregulated nervous system trapped in the "go-go-go" hustle. We explore what happens when your body is primed for chaos from childhood, why peace can actually feel unsafe, and how we use romanticized longing to escape the present moment. Key Takeaways The "Go-Go-Go" Trap: Why society glorifies constant motion, and how it forces your body into a perpetual sympathetic (fight-or-flight) state. The Illusion of Sehnsucht and Saudades: How we use deep, romanticized longing and sadness for the unattainable as an emotional escape hatch. By fixation on something far away, we protect ourselves from the vulnerability of being present.Childhood Priming for Chaos: Why a history of emotional ups and downs trains your nervous system to view calm as a threat. If chaos feels normal, your body will actively crave busyness or deep longing just to feel "safe."Rejecting the Present: How a dysregulated system blocks you from appreciating small, everyday joys, choosing instead the familiar comfort of dissatisfaction and striving. The Power of Peace: Why finding baseline stillness is a mandatory biological requirement—not a luxury—to break this cycle and kickstart the neural retraining process. --- // LINKS // Take the Free Enneagram Quiz Here 1:1 Coaching With Kalyna // BOOK // Read Memorable // SOCIAL // Instagram Facebook LinkedIn YouTube Listen to related episodes like The Lie of "Good Enough": A Confession on the Pressure to Perform on Apple Podcasts or Spotify. What Google Won’t Tell You About Your First AA & Al-Anon Meeting

On today's episode of Lead Today, host Kalyna Miletic pulls back the curtain on one of the hardest leadership steps a person can take: walking through the doors of a 12-Step meeting. If you are secretly considering attending an Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Al-Anon meeting, you are likely frozen by the exact same anxieties, misconceptions, and raw fear that Kalyna once faced. Whether you are struggling with dependency yourself, or trying to navigate the chaos of loving an alcoholic, this episode serves as your practical, compassionate guide on how to face the fear, find a meeting, and finally take that first step. The "What If I'm Seen?" Panic: Confronting the deep anxiety around anonymity and the fear of running into someone you know. The Imposter Syndrome: Feeling like your story "isn't bad enough" to justify sitting in an AA or Al-Anon room.Overcoming Judgement: Realizing that the people inside the rooms are not there to judge your past—they are there to survive their own.Parallel Paths: How AA (for the drinker) and Al-Anon (for the family member) utilize the exact same framework to address two different sides of the same disease. The Higher Power Hurdle: Breaking down the spiritual versus religious divide. You do not need to be religious; your higher power can simply be the collective strength of the room. The "Just Listen" Rule: You are never forced to speak, read, or share your story. You can simply say, "I'm just here to listen today.""One Day at a Time": Rewiring your brain to focus strictly on the next 24 hours instead of panicking about the future.Step 1: We admitted we were powerless over alcohol [or the alcoholic]—that our lives had become unmanageable. Step 2: Came to believe that a Power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity. Step 3: Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understood Him. Step 4: Made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves. Step 5: Admitted to God, to ourselves, and to another human being the exact nature of our wrongs. Step 6: Were entirely ready to have God remove all these defects of character. Step 7: Humbly asked Him to remove our shortcomings. Step 8: Made a list of all persons we had harmed, and became willing to make amends to them all. Step 9: Made direct amends to such people wherever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others. Step 10: Continued to take personal inventory and when we were wrong promptly admitted it. Step 11: Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God as we understood Him, praying only for knowledge of His will for us and the power to carry that out. Step 12: Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these steps, we tried to carry this message to alcoholics [or others], and to practice these principles in all our affairs. *This is not therapy or medical advice.
