    “The thing that got me out of bed is the gym, the thing that makes me come back to MYP is the members, the community, and what you have created for us.” A busy Mum, wife, health professional in the corporate space, massive cheerleader and a valued member at MYP - Sarah Commuskey. She is the one that will be cheering you for your sets, she’s the one that celebrates your birthday and have the crew all blow up balloons surprising the birthday member as they step through the door.  It was an absolute pleasure to sit down with Sarah and have her share her story with us, her 15 years of dedication in the gym, from training six times a week to training three times a week at MYP and getting the results, more energy, time back, hitting PBs, and achieving some big goals already! With more on the horizon. A key highlight Sarah spoke about was the love and support she has from her husband Joel, her backbone, supporting her goals and with that she shares her advice to those who feel guilty for making the time to prioritise themselves. This was powerful! We’ve had the honour to see the bond between Sarah and her husband Joel and the beautiful family they have with their daughter, and it’s no wonder, because both parents model what health, happiness and showing up for yourself looks and truly mean. Sarah’s message was powerful: “Give yourself that time. You are deserving of that time.”  “You have more time than you think you have. It’s how you’re using that time, zoom out, look at the things you’re doing that aren’t serving you, and take them away. Think about what training, how moving your body - what reward that's going to give you and other aspects of your life” If you feel you are training 6x a week, feeling guilty you missed the gym, feeling exhausted, burnt out and frustrated for the effort, time and energy you’re putting in and not yielding the results, you need to listen to this episode with Sarah! “Genuine care, people are invested in each other. “That’s something you don’t find elsewhere”. You want to see people succeed here.”  What is next for Sarah? Sarah is 6 weeks out to a half marathon in May, Hyrox in August, and a Marathon in October! Sarah is a pillar and energy in the room when she walks into MYP. She holds people to a standard higher than themselves, with a big desire for others to win. We love that about you Sarah!     MEMBER SPOTLIGHT: Caterina Beer x MYP GYM. Gaining strength, building muscle, perimenopause and feeling your best, strong and fit for the woman you are becoming.

    In this episode, I interviewed Caterina Beer, member of MYP GYM, it was such a pleasure to have Cath share her powerful story of intentionally choosing how to navigate perimenopause/menopause and modelling that women can build strength, achieve great body composition goals and gaining confidence and energy. Cath said it perfectly, prioritising yourself so you can be better for those you love and around you!  If you haven't met Cath yet, she's a friendly face here at MYP, and I have been fortunate to have some beautiful conversations with Cath at MYP social events. Cath kindly sat down with me to share her story with us. We covered so much, but here's some highlights: The helicopter moment that Cath said "I've got to do something about it". Cath's journey to date at MYP, the strength gained, muscle mass gained and her consistency (she hit the 100 CLUB!). Community and Connection being a key part for Cath and building wonderful friendships and how she's gained gym besties.     58. CHARU PARMAR: Beyond being aware, is to execute, not waiting for permission or validation to become who you want to be and setting strong boundaries.

    In this episode I interview Charu Parmar, an incredibly inspiring, strong woman and go-getter attitude! She has a big following on social media with great influence on her culture inspiring them to cultivate a better life inside and out of the gym.     57. STEVE LIGGETT: 1 DAY OUT to 12 hour running event - Better Mental Performance. Steve shares his reason WHY, capacity to hold it all and the importance of support vs sabotage.

    Steve will take off at 6:00AM WST on 30th March 2024 and complete his 12 hour running event by 6:00PM. From Steve Liggett: In Omnia Paratus...On 30th March 2024, I will be undertaking a solo endurance challenge following the guidelines below, raising funds for Blue Tree Project:- 12 hours elapsed time, cover maximum distance on foot, over terrain of choice- not allowed indoors, other than for emergencies/toilet access- no headphones for the full duration.The plan is formulated with a baseline testing week, followed by 11 weeks of training, strength testing and the final day 12 hr solo endurance challenge.My initial purpose for completing was personal, to partake in a 12 week training program designed to become "In Omnia Paratus - prepared in all things" and take myself to the metaphorical edge, both physically and mentally.A huge proponent of mental performance, I believe shifting the narrative surrounding mental health from a typically negative connotation, to one of deep understanding, pure possibility and limitless potential - paves the way for transformative change in the trajectory of peoples mental health.Having progressed through the training weeks and engaged in some incredible conversations from those curious about why on earth I'm putting myself through it, my purpose has extended well beyond my own body and goals.Through sharing my experience on the mental challenges, fortitude and strength acquired, all of which are equally relevant and transferrable to everyday life experiences, I hope it will continue to raise meaningful awareness and encourage others to kickstart their own journey of elevated mental health and performance, and support the work incredible organisations such as Blue Tree Project do in this space (kicking the stigma of mental health, one blue tree at a time).Finally, with our recent incredibly exciting news, my commitment to creating change in the mental health sphere has never been stronger, especially for our future generations.Your participation is very much appreciated, whether it's by donation, deepening your perspective, kickstarting your own journey, or perhaps reframing that conversation you've been struggling to have - it's all for the better.
