I was a registered Midwife and antenatal educator for over 20 years. I have worked in hospitals, birth centres and mainly in homebirths practice. I now am no longer on the midwifery register, I am now a Perinatal consultant, Educator, coach, and professional birth attendant. Join me as I share wisdom learnt from my great teachers including Mary Cronk and Jane Hardwicke - Collings, and from every family I served. I have 2 grown up children, am an artist, & a former nurse. My passion for birth work is deeply rooted in my desire to prevent birth trauma, and to enable empowered and joyful birth.

    Understanding and optimising your chances of Physiological Birth.

    Physiological labour and birth are the processes our bodies do naturally to give birth to our babies. We've been well designed for labour and birth and many people can give birth safely and without medical intervention. In this episode I will explain what I mean by physiological birth, the environmental and hormonal factors which enhance the natural processes, and how to optimise your chances of having a straightforward physiological birth. Of course medical interventions are sometimes needed for medical reasons, but make sure there are good reasons before agreeing to any induction or intervention in your labour. Accepting interventions without good medical reasons can sometimes lead to worse outcomes.
