    In today’s, society the safety of the children in our care is both more important and more difficult then ever before. Just as the days when a parent might allow their child to go play unsupervised in the front yard may be a thing of the past, so too are the days when agencies can be casual about checking in and out program participants, or not establish clear policies surrounding the pickup of those same children. Program security is one of the critical factors in Parks and Recreation today. In this podcast, we’ll explore the process of checking in and check out the minor participants in your programs. We’ll explore the major decision points and give you the tools to assess if a checkin/checkout system should become part of your agency’s youth program(s).

    Adding the WOW Factor to Your Special Events

    On Today’s show we’ll talk about the wow factor and how it applies to special events. Then we’ll explore 10 things you can do to increase the WOW factor in your Special Events. Those 10 things are: 1. Design your event to be viewed or participated at multiple levels. 2. Do something no one else has done before. 3. Insure there is a unified theme. 4. Create traditions that are ideas on your theme. 5. Script out your event like a Broadway Show 6. Map out traffic patterns and insure you have good clear flow of traffic 7. Create opportunities for people to make memories. 8. Give them something to take home. 9. Let the crowd know who's responsible for their good time. 10. Conduct exit surveys to understand how you can improve/make changes for next year to wow them even more.
